We have had a remarkable experience at LearningRx in Warren. It began with the owner, Marcia Douglas, displaying that this is not just a business, but an avenue for her to serve the good of others. That was the spirit of every interaction throughout our work there. We brought our three children to the center, and the testing revealed their areas of strength and weakness. While there were some things we knew and some surprises, there was also utter shock at how much one of our children was struggling. I could not believe what we did not know. The program had a different fixed component for each of our children that was very, very valuable. Then, there was a flexibility to meet individual needs that was amazing. One child brought in memorization he was struggling with from school. Another brought in his chore list to create a memorization strategy. The third needed help with verbal processing in conversation, and that was given attention. The combination of having the benefit of a researched design to guide the program along with the ability to integrate individual needs was one of the best parts of the experience. The proof is in the puddin' as they say, and the feedback from teachers from last school year to this year (they worked primarily over the summer) was amazing. In a very short period of time, the gains and the relief of so many struggles was significant. We have chosen to continue one child for a few more months because so much success was made on a stubborn problem. LearningRx has left our children with more confidence in themselves and a much easier time moving through their schoolwork. I would recommend LearningRx in Warren...
Read moreThe team at LearningRx-Warren worked their magic with our daughter. We waited a full year after our daughter participated in their program before we posted a review because we wanted to know if what she learned there actually stuck and made a difference. She was a kindergartener who showed an aversion to doing anything phonics related, begged to stay home from school on days they were working on reading, couldn't even focus long enough to try to sound out a word so forget about reading. After only 5 sessions of their unique program she was pulling out hand written cards from the grandparents and fumbling through to TRY to read it on her own from beginning to end. We literally cried. After 6 months she gained the confidence, and SKILLS, to keep on tackling any challenges and was able to finish Kindergarten strong. At the start of First grade she had caught up and was reading at grade level. Halfway through the year, she's already reading at a Second grade level, and we can see her using the same techniques she had learned at LearningRx the year before. From what we could see, this is NOT a tutoring program, it's more that they try to identify the barriers to her overall learning process and give her tools to overcome them bit by bit so she can apply these techniques across all areas. Reading is still NOT her favorite thing to do, but we are amazed at the progress she has made and the willingness she has to try activities she still finds challenging, and we credit LearningRx with that. Best investment we have made in our daughter's...
Read moreAll 3 of my sons attended full programs (3 times per week, in person) at LearningRx in 2019. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this program was for our family. Each one of my kids has a different need, and LearningRx tailored their program to give each one their own, respective journey. My eldest did well in school but needed an extra push to reach for excellence, especially with his writing. LearningRx advanced him to that next level, and he truly enjoyed the process. My middle son has suboptimal short-term memory, and the training did a great job to help him process in a different way and retain concepts better/longer. He has also since become an avid reader, which I think was driven by enhanced comprehension skills that he developed at LearningRx. Finally, our youngest has ADHD. One of the key areas we were trying to improve – auditory processing – was significantly enhanced through the training he received (by VERY patient and caring LearningRx teachers!). The dedication of the owners and teachers toward the students was truly exceptional; my children viewed their coaches as trusted supporters of them as individuals. Mike even reached out to us 3 months after we wrapped up our course work, just to check on us and see how we were doing during the Covid-19 pandemic. If you are seeking a supportive and caring environment for your kids to effectively develop their cognitive skills, look no further than...
