Rc'd a mailer enclosed in a clear plastic bag from this shop recently - it said to "Fill this bag with your unwanted, broken, old and unused jewelry " , "Let us put money in your pocket", "etc... Went to the store Sat a.m. with a few items I no longer wanted. Went through a 10-15 min process of having these items weighed/assessed by a woman named "Deborah" who valued them at less than $95. But she apparently could not explain anything about the process. Nor could she convert their "dwt" to grams when I asked her to do so - she had to go ask a man in the back (who turned out to be David Hartman) only to recite to me a formula that he said to use. The calculator she'd used was right there on the counter. When I pointed out to her that the weight scale could probably easily do the conversion, she said "it probably does that" but she "didn't know how to operate it". !!! At that I said "I had come there hoping for a fair valuation but this was not the place for that apparently" - I requested return of my jewelry & then asked if they could at least provide me with a replacement watch battery. "Deborah" disappeared to the back, consulted with David & then returned triumphantly with "the last one of that kind in the shop! " she said. I asked the price - she said $4, I asked does that include tax? She didn't know she said, but then she started typing on a computer register to do the transaction - the typing went on for several moments while I'm standing with exact cash in hand. We settled on $4 - I left vowing to myself I'd never return to this shop for anything. Wow! You solicit business to come to you & then treat someone - a potential new customer - in such a shoddy way - all under the eyes of owner, David Hartman. David Hartman and company is absolutely the only jewelry company I will ever work with again! I called David on Dec 18/ 2017, with a request for 5 custom pendants for my gf, her kids, mom, and grandma, as Christmas presents. I realized before I walked in the door that I was probably a month late, but as I am a guy, that’s what we do! David not only said he could do my custom request, but would be ready before “the” date! I showed up Christmas Eve, after David and I had emailed and called each other to refine details of my order, and they were beautiful!!! Each pendant was exactly as designed and described, and the necklaces were perfect! I opted to wrap them myself, and David Hartman is responsible for 5 women crying about their “Love” Christmas! I had a list of requirements for my new custom ring combining some heirloom pieces, hard to imagine everything in one ring but David accomplished this and more! Patiently, step by step was emailed to me through weeks and weeks of yes and no and finally the end result was completed! Ohhhh my goodness what a beauty! The ring was supposed to be for my 10th wedding anniversary but it never made it back into the box once i put it on my finger. Such talent and patience, thank you David!
