Great service and a one team approach. We highly recommend District Floor Depot. Due to water damage, we had to replace our fully functional basement's bamboo wooden floor. We had a bit of a rocky start with District Floor Depot because the first person we worked with in the store recommended a particular material, and based on that we went through the typical married couple negotiations of picking the color. They sent someone out to see the space and bring us a larger sample, but then that person recommended a second material. So we went through the gyrations of picking a color in that second material, only to then have the manager recommend a third material. The good news is that this material was the right choice for us, but we just wish we had been advised that the first time. To be fair, as they learned more of how we use the space, etc., their advise justly changed, and at the end of the day it didn't cost us extra money or time.

After that inefficient start, District Floor Depot was amazing! They gave great advice, worked with us and the manufacturer to answer questions and get additional material, and correctly assessed the effort needed to take off the existing wood that had used strong glue.

Some of what we LOVED: Once the installation started, they worked as one team. There was no sales said versus management said versus installation team said. They were one team, and they all communicated internally and with us to work around the issues that came up. Held to their estimate. Things came up, but there was no nickeling and diming. When we didn't like the transition, they replaced the transition. When we didn't like the shoe molding next to the stairs, they changed it. When we couldn't decide what to do with one area where the shoe molding didn't fit perfectly, they told us options, but when we couldn't decide, they cut shoe molding and let us see the options which made the decision easy. When something bad happened that wasn't anybody's fault, they worked with us. We replaced the floor because of a water leak. The water leak was resolved by another company, but the day District Floor Depot was installing the new floor we had a strong afternoon downpour, and water leaked in again. We called the other company in, and District Floor Depot helped with input on what they saw, agreed to stop work, and put the completion on indefinite hold. 4 weeks later, we asked them to come back and finish. There was no additional charge, though I know it was harder for them to schedule and more costly for them to make that additional trip for their team.

Happy to answer any questions or provide details. We highly recommend District...

TLDR: If you want a place that won’t try and up sell you at every turn and really seem like they are looking out for your finances. This is the place to go. Hands down will shop again!

Honest review:

This is possibly the best experience I have had with my home improvement or retail store!

I stopped in on a whim to shop tiles and was greeted by Mario, he helped show us the tiles they have in store and explained that they work with MSI and can get any of their tiles and provided their website.

He also explained how he might be able to find us tiles that are on clearance that may not show up on the website for us as consumers but will show up for him. I gave him the range we are trying to stay within and he said he will look into it and took down my number.

We didn’t stay long and after parting ways, I received a call 20 minutes later from Mario, he stated that he had found some tiles that might work and provided the price which was way under what we were willing to spend and offered to have them delivered to the store next day. He sent me a photo and asked if it worked (it did) and I paid.

Due to scheduling, I wasn’t able to pick up the tiles the following day and worked with them to have the tiles delivered to my house which they obliged.

It really is a breath of fresh air to be treated more than a dollar sign and to have someone legitimately respect your time.

Some highlights that I really enjoyed were: When Mario was on the phone with me he offered to fill out the invoice and call me back instead of keeping me on hold (oh my god thank you! This is beyond annoying) When at the store, I was not pushed into using their installers or pushed into going with a higher end wood or tile, there was no sales pitch, there was no time wasting, Mario took down what I wanted and found exactly that.

I will absolutely be shopping with them again vs...

Last year I wanted to change my carpet out with hardwood floors. I already had hardwood in the kitchen and foyer. I wanted to replace all the carpet with the same flooring or close to it. After speaking with lumber liquidators, Luna Flooring, Empire and a local shop in VA (that quoted me without a site visit) I decided to go with District floor depot.

I stopped in the store on a Wednesday and the following Saturday Mani was at my home for a consult. He was very professional and did not try to upsell me on anything. He suggested the style he thought would be a perfect match and he was right. The following Monday I had a quote in my email. Unfortunately, I was not able to get the floors done so almost a 10 months later I called the store to see if I can get it done and they remember me and had all my information still and was ready to proceed. Heidy was very helpful and stayed in touch with me throughout the project until completion. Even as I changed some of the material and install dates they still was very professional and accommodating.

I really like that I did not have to be home during the installation. The installers was prompt and early and did not waste any time getting to work. The team that did my installation worked from the time they got there until they left. And they left my home just as they found it. They cleaned up any mess that was made and took all trash with them. I did not find any trash in or around my home at all. Then to top it all off to get a follow-up call after the installation to make sure I was satisfied with the outcome was also a nice touch.

They have a very customer orientated & professional staff overall. My experience was excellent. I highly recommend anyone that is looking to get their floors done to give them a look. I will be using them again myself to do my...

This was my 2nd time contacting District Floor Depot for refinishing of hardwood floors. Both times Mario did the consultation and Steve did the refinishing with his crew. Mario was very helpful in sharing ideas, options, pricing, and information on the process. Steve and crew executed beautifully on the plan and in a very timely fashion. They started on time and finished early- but didn’t rush as can be seen in the final result. Not only are Mario, Steve and his crew experts at what they do, they also provided me with excellent advice on ways to improve the staircases so they would match the newly refinished floors. I contacted both Mario and Steve several times throughout the process and they were always patient, understanding, helpful and knowledgeable. I was over the moon with the first job they did for me in 2021, and this time I’m just as happy if not happier. Getting floors redone can be a large undertaking financially and logistically. These guys made it smooth as butter and were always kind and service-oriented along the way. I was also very happy with the cost. All in all, I highly recommend DFD, especially Mario and Steve, for any floor-related projects you may have. I’m posting some photos of the finished product in my home. They did all the floor refinishing and I painted the staircases with their excellent advice. MANY THANKS MARIO AND STEVE AND CREW!! 👌🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏🏼

March 2024: I had a great experience with the team at District Floor Depot. I brought them in to install new hardwood flooring in my home during part of a larger renovation and repair project. Melvin at DFD was very helpful throughout the process of getting quotes, making adjustments and changes, scheduling the work, and overseeing installation. Communication was great and they were willing to be flexible with the timeline as I had to coordinate the installation as part of the larger project with another contractor. The installation was quick and looks fantastic. Over all very pleased and would highly recommend DFD to anyone. Update, August 2025: After using District Floor Depot to install new hardwood flooring on the first floor of my house last year, I returned to them to have the stairs and upstairs done to match. I worked with Mario, who came out for the initial consultation and who was very thorough and responsive and easy to communicate with throughout the work being done. Juan, the crew leader, and the worker he brought were great to work with over the couple of days it took to do the install. They worked long hours and were very fast and efficient, and the work was high quality. They did a great job. Having used District Floor Depot twice now, I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking to do a future flooring project.

Pros: In the end the floors look great & the prices were decent. We’ve had them for 3 years now and they’re holding up well (obviously this is a testament to both the type of flooring, but also how it was installed). Cons: The experience was a hassle to say the least. There was no on site project manager to coordinate with - the workers showed up too early and on days we clearly told them not to work (per HOA rules in our condo). Our neighbors were very unhappy. They were a bit careless. They put holes in the wall in a few locations and did not attempt to fix them. They got stain on the trim of the stairs and did not fix that either. Maybe a con, maybe truly unexpected: They told us we could keep our banisters after doing a site visit. We spent an entire weekend sanding and staining them to match the new floor color. Once they began the install, they called us and told us they had to rip them out. They couldn’t explain why this wasn’t caught during our site visit and included in our original estimate. I get that things come up, but the issue that arose would have been obvious in the site visit. Overall, in hindsight, the experience was fine.
