My review of st vincent
I have gone into this shop several times and encountered several staff members. Normally the prices are clearly set. But if there isnt a price just ask at the front register. The staff are usually friendly and helpful. Even the volunteer workers are cordial and personable.
They have a nice little dressing room to try things on which I do in fact recommend because they do not do returns and all sales are final. They often have a womens 1 dollar garments sale which has allowed me(a plus sized woman) to acquire things I really needed when money was extra tight.
I have also purchased some reasonably priced and good conditioned furniture there. And had it delivered rather quickly which was really wonderful considering I really needed something comfortable to sit on.
This shop also helps homeless and less fortunate people and families and I think that is amazing and some thing I have not seen at other thrift shops in the area. I do commend them for that.
Some not so great things about the shop is some times the line can get long and held up because there is only one register. The shopping section in the rear could use a better floor. It's a bit uneven and cracked. The uneven spots are clearly marked though. The clothing section of the store is a little bit over crowded and hard to maneuver through. So its not very accessible to some less mobile shoppers. But that is easily remedied by very helpful staff who will assist anyone who asks for help and often even offer assitance with out a request.
Overall prices are fair but I have seen some prices that I felt were either really low or really high. I am not an expert by any means so they may be priced appropriately.
At the end of the day I usually walk out of there feeling succesful and like I got a great deal. So if you can look past the little flaws I think you will enjoy this shop and find some really cool things. Take your time and look at as much as you can because some real gems are stashed away in this little shop.
Keep up the...
Read moreI am a customer and sometimes a volunteered in St. Vincent de Paul. St. Vincent de Paul’s thrift store (YES STORE),is an organization. The proceeds from the store help other areas of the organization like the soup kitchen and the shelter. The store also helps people in need with clothing, furniture etc at no cost to them at all. I have always been happy with my purchases at the store as i know they will help keep the other areas running. When they get donations that are antiques, that worth a lot, in my opinion they should use any means available to make money to sell those items. Whether is eBay or whatever. The store has employees, insurance, overhead costs, a truck to make deliveries etc. Some people complaint about the employees when they don’t get their way or the prices they want. All i have to say to those people is if u found it cheaper somewhere else then buy it somewhere else. I have always been treated with respect and kindness by all employees and volunteers at St. Vincent de Paul. So thank you to all of you fir everything you do and i like to apologized fir the people that are rude to you when they don’t get what...
Read moreFirst time going here and at first was happy to find some beautiful pieces. But the lack of professionalism of the cashier was extremely distasteful. Also not willing to come down on prices on furniture that was missing pieces and worn/stained and discolored. Woman at the front was very snide, rude, and condescending when checking out. Purchased a couch that was stained and discolored but then when we spoke about donating she sarcastically told us to read a sign that says they don't take "ripped, stained, worn, or broken furniture." Which I thought was a bit abbrasive and out of line since the chair I had just purchased was worn and stained/discolored. Needless to say I will not be going back to give anymore of my time or money there. If I could leave it with no stars I would, but I couldn't so it gets one. Even though it...
