Came here for dinner on a Saturday night before seeing a show at the Palace Theater - it was also 2 days after Valentine's day. My complaint around that was they only had their Valentine's day menu, which had some of the items from the regular menu but everything was $1-$2 more expensive than the regular menu. Why? Also, if you asked for the regular menu, they didn't provide it but said you could still ask for items from it. Which meant you had to look it up online (that's how we noticed the price increases).
Overall, it's a nice little place, very well decorated and our waitress was very friendly. They start you off with bread and it was very good. There's also a dipping oil with roasted garlic in it - it took the bread to the next level. For appetizers, we split the calamari. It's a pretty large serving but it tasted great. For mains, I got the lamb. I love lamb. I always get lamb if it's on the menu. It came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The lamb itself was cooked to perfection and was very good but it was swimming in the sauce they provided and that ended up overwhelming the lamb. Less is more. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were good. My husband got the stuffed chicken - the waitress raved about it. She mentioned that the sauce was sweet and savory - both my husband and my brother-in-law order it. Neither one of them liked it - it was super sweet. Even the breading on the chicken seemed sweet. I have to agree - and the sweetness just stayed in your mouth. They did mention this to her, it's definitely not for everyone. She was nice about it though and provided us with a complimentary slice of chocolate cake - that was pretty good.
Overall, it was ok. I'd be willing to try them again but...
Read moreMy husband and I were celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary and wanted to try something new. As soon as we walked in we were treated like old friends. Our server, Wendy, made some great recommendations and was spot on with every single one of them. I had duck l’orange and it was everything I imagined. My husband got the prime rib special and said it was the best he ever had!! The portion was so large he had to take half of it home and my husband NEVER has leftovers!! To top off the night Wendy brought us complimentary dessert. “Tiramisu for Two” she called it. And let me tell you...I’m an expert in Tiramisu, and this was the best I ever had. I don’t order it when we go out because I’m almost always disappointed but not at Signatures! There was a chocolate cake crust! So, if you’re looking for a place to enjoy some classic European dishes with a cozy, clean and classy atmosphere, I strongly suggest Signatures in Waterbury. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants in the area but I have written exactly TWO reviews, that’s how much I enjoyed our experience with Wendy at Signatures...
Read moreI almost didn’t patronize this restaurant because of a review. However, after going back and forth between other local establishments close by, I decided to go to Signatures. It was a short walk from Courtyard. Their preparation of calamari is how I like it. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted with a friendly welcome. The woman who approached me when I entered was actually having her own dinner at that time, however, there was no hesitation with her acknowledgement when I entered and requested take-out. In addition to the calamari, I had a Chicken Marsala. As I waited for my food to be prepared, the hospitality continued. My meal was very tasty, reasonably priced, and plentiful. The Calamari was crispy, mashed potatoes thick and chicken tender and moist. I look forward to returning whenever I’m back...
