Via Al Paraiso — Restaurant in Waterbury

We were charged $115 for ONE serving of food. $100!!!! OVERCHARGED. Yes one of those round single serve foil pans with the plastic clear cover. I bought 6 identical plates the first was $115 the others were $15. I remember thinking wow $15 for that as she kept saying $15 out loud as she added each one to the bag. The food looked great but those aren’t Connecticut pre prepared food from steam pan prices. The tally was over $200 and I was shocked but it was a special hectic day, full of rushing and hungry people to get back to. The worst part, the shrimp was like eating rubber and tasteless, the rice over cooked the maduros not sweet. Hours later and hours away I was telling someone about this and the total, and then it hit me, when I looked at the receipt there it was! I called and asked for the owner they said they would return my call as they were busy. I’m still waiting. I called this morning and no one is answering the call. After calling 3x and no answer, I called back using *67 so that my number doesn’t show. Same lady as yesterday answered. I told her I’m calling back regarding the same unresolved issue as last night. She said she had forgotten. After telling her I want the owner to call me immediately she has the audacity to tell me she can’t bother them because they’re sleeping. At 8:30am on a Saturday. I reminded her that I’m the one being inconvenienced as I have to chase them down to resolve their mistake. I had to ask her to take down the information on the receipt that would help her...

The food is good but the service is horrible if you are of color other than there's. I went and sat at a table with my two kids since we were eating in. No body came to greet us or give us our menus I had to get up and go get my food. Even then one of the girls just looked at me stirring the rice. She said something in soanish I guess asking if I was served when she clearly saw me come in. After we got our food finally she bought us our drinks which was served in coffee cups. Every one else had regular cups. No body came by to ask if we we're ok. Was the food good or anything. I had to call upon a server who was much nicer then every one else if we can get to go containers and to pay. I went up to pay. The one who served my food checked me out and still no customer service. No words or nothing. I signed my reciept and I left a tip that she didn't deserve but to show her my money is green like every one else. I rather go to the other Spanish resturesta next door then then again. Sad thing is I always send people to whoever I eat if the food is good but I think I will not do it this time. I don't understand the racism that Hispanics have against black people. It's the most stupidest thing ever. We are almost one and the same when it comes down to it....

This restaurant may be liked by many however ;

It lacks a wait staff that is knowledgeable of ingredients in dishes/ and that actually knows how to serve a table of guests.

It lacks clean menus./ and utensils

It lacks A good selection of beverages

It lacks dishes that the menu offers.

It lacks heat( food was cold ) y

This was my 3rd and last time I try to dine there. I’m sure many people like eating here ( I guess they haven’t had any better to compare with)

I prefer to; Order from a clean menu Eat on a clean table Sit on a clean surface ( not one with rice And scattered crumbs left behind by previous customers) A menu that actually has what it offers A wait staff that is familiar with what they They are serving. Eat together with my party ( half the table Was served the other half had to wait for Their food(so we really didn’t dine together) Prices that make sense

P.S Clean the windows for they are filthy so is the glass on the showcases

Feedback is very important, be it positive or negative. It should be appreciated and taken into consideration by every member of management and staff.
