Chief Supermarket — Local services in Wauseon

I like going here once in awhile. Had some good stuff. Just don't get veggies and fruits I say. Why because I've gone there a few times and things were all moldy. I can say I like there bakery, spice section, frozen section, and more. Fun fact. I've gone to four different shopping centers looking for a certain kind of cookie. (All have food.) And you know what? None of them had them. But once I went to Chief's it was right there! Which yeah I love molasses cookies alot. So yeah I was happy. Another thing I remember is in the far past I got some pretty great deals on hair products there. Along with K coffee. (Tho yeah it's cheaper to just get a bag of coffee grounds. At least in the long run.) Chief's is an alright place to go to in my opinion. Oh and they also have plants there. Last time I was there they had thornless cactus. Baby ones. But yeah they mostly have food there.

Update 9/21/2024. I remember a few Months ago I came by. They had Raw Meat in a display in the Front. It was all bad because the Airflow wasn't right. There was Meat turning Brown and Green in there. So yeah after this I'm getting barely anything at this Store. Like only Canned Food, Bakery stuff (Because I haven't had problems with that.), Non Food Items and that's about it on what I would trust there...

My husband and I moved here in September and we wanted to love our hometown grocery store! It’s horrible! Chiefs in Wauseon is the worst store we’ve experienced in multiple states and four countries. It’s dirty looking! Always out of stuff, empty spots everywhere! Associates not helpful or friendly! Needed oranges right before Thanksgiving, none out so asked a store associate if they had any in the back, the associate would not even go check. Said they had so much in the back wouldn’t know where to look. If that was true then why was the produce department so empty. Cashiers talk to each other instead of paying attention to customers; they do not greet customers or say thank you. Customer Service area not friendly at all! Apparently the culture is such customers are an imposition and not wanted or valued at Chiefs! Chiefs owners should go to Georgia and Florida and visit a Publix store! Publix has great customer service!! You always find what you are looking for!!! Stores are spotless! We will not be utilizing Chiefs anymore! I will go to Kroger all the way in Swanton! Update to original post. It's a shame how a business can decline so quickly. I originally gave a 4 star rating because of the lack of customer service, but now that just seems to be, just a small portion of a bigger problem. Product availability in the deli and produce areas on several occasions has been lousy. Not to mention outdated meats in the coolers. Makes me wonder, especially when you bring it to the attention of the courtesy counters personel and ask to speak to management, about the problems and your met with indifference and rude behavior. Is it a lack of experienced management or poor management? Unfortunately these companies can't keep using the excuse of not having adequate staffing levels. Or will this just end up being another empty storefront and has...
