I have been shopping at Kaydee Music for about ten years, and while they have changed locations and the nature of their business, there are something that haven't changed, and that's why I continue to shop there when I'm in the area.
While originally purely a music store that sold instruments, rentals (gear and instruments), and related products, they now sell not only those things, but also a plethora of used items and trade ins. These include but are not limited to: CD's, Vinyl records, cassette tapes, 8 track tapes, guitars, violins, brass and woodwind instruments, video games, video game consoles, swords... there was even a taxidermic bear for sale for a while (not sure if it's still there).
The store itself has a retro-vintage vibe to it that's pretty cool. I don't live in the area anymore, but my parents do, so when I visit them I always stop by and will often bring my kids in.
There are many things to buy and trade...too many to list here. The beauty of the business however, and that part that hasn't changed over the years, is the owner and his love of music.
I briefly mentioned this before, but music lessons are available, as are some rentals, both at reasonable prices. There are a plethora of used and new guitars available, always at reasonable prices. It's pretty standard at music stores to mark up the price 10-30%, and then give the customer a "discount" of 10-30% so they think they are getting a deal.
What makes Kaydee Music special is that he will often give you this discount, and then some, I've been in the store when I know he was taking a loss on some instruments-be it a straight up purchase or for a trade. He's one of those people, who yes, it is a business, he has to make money, but he's also one of those people who likes to see others inspired by music. It's probably why you see such an extreme variety of items in his store.
If you want to buy a beginning or mid-level instrument, and big name brands aren't a concern for you, check out Kaydee music. If you want to look for used CD's, Vinyls, or Video Games, check out Kaydee music. If you are one of those people who like going to garage sales and finding random things, check out Kaydee music. If you need to rent stage lights or an instrument, check out Kaydee music. You will be hard pressed to find lower prices or...
