I rarely write reviews; only when compelled to do so by an exceptional experience. In this case, the experience has been exceptionally poor. If you wonder why this pharmacy has such poor reviews (after all, it is a Walgreens), perhaps I might be able to shed a little light on the situation with the Waxahachie location.
Aside from the fact that Walgreens pharmacies are notoriously higher than many of their competitors, the chain generally enjoys a good reputation in terms of service, which offsets the inflation of their prices. We are consumers of both goods and services. Excellent service is worth a premium in many situations.
My experience with this particular Walgreens contradicts my previous experience at other locations and was as follows:
Day 1: I call to check on a prescription that had been sent in several hours earlier. I am on hold for 13 minutes, during which time I am assailed by a loud pronouncement "WE'RE SORRY BUT...." every. twenty. seconds.
So it is impossible to work or really do much of anything else while I am on hold because every twenty seconds I am being screamed at about how sorry they are. Now, when I first began holding, I was informed by the voice that there was one caller ahead of me. Somehow, during the 13 minutes, I was tossed back in the queue. I know this because after several minutes there were three people ahead of me.
Perceiving something was amiss, I decided to hang up and call back.
This time I am on hold for another 12 minutes before someone answers the phone. 25 minutes total wait while being screamed at by the mystery voice every 20 seconds about how sorry they are.
I am then put on a soft-hold. you know, when they ask you to hold after you've been on hold for 25 minutes. No problem. Finally, after another couple of minutes, I am asked for my information, etc.
I am told my prescription will be ready in an hour. Cool.
30 minutes later I receive a call. They don't have my meds. It will be tomorrow I am told. Fine
Day 2: Around 2:30 I decide to call and check on my prescription. It was my lucky day (sort of). I am only on hold this time for 7 minutes before a human addresses me.
I am now told that the truck came in and they will look and see IF my meds came in with the delivery. they will let me know she says. Now, this prescription isn't something exotic, mind you. It's a staple pretty much everywhere.
So I am now 2 days past due on my meds and am told they're going to see whether they have them or not even though they told me they did and then they didn't and then that they would have them but now they don't know if they do.
So, I am paying about 50% more for my prescription than I would at HEB and that premium that is supposed to be offset by exceptional service... well, the service is certainly exceptional. Only not...
Read moreThe people who work at this Walgreens are deplorable (not the pharmacy staff). On 6/20/25 we arrived to this Walgreens after a 5 hour trip from Houston. My fiancé is an exhausted ER doctor who just got off of a 2 week stint and worked 12-16 hours a day, saving lives. We went to this location rushing at 10:50PM for last minute feminine products. He sat his wallet at the cashiers counter when paying, and accidentally left it there. We turned around rushed back immediately (a 5 mins lapse) and the lady who we later found out was "Emma", who rushed us at checkout, we believe she stole his wallet. Working in a hospital we are around a lot of drug users as patients and Emma behaves and has physical symptoms of a meth user. If she came in our hospital sick, that's the first thing we would suspect for sickness. Interestingly, we went back soon as the store opened and then again in the afternoon. The staff we met were uncaring and unhelpful. We found out the camera overlooking the cash register area in the store was broken after calling the police. Yes that's right, there are multiple controlled substances in this store with no cameras at the front cashier area, confirmed by the pharmacy that a contractor messed up the wiring. So no one would see Emma take the wallet. The staff was so defensive when we asked about the wallet, citing that they already called Emma and she said she didn't take it. I've held many different customer service jobs in the past, and this is something people do when they all decide to steal something and agree on it: come up with a story in advance. They lied to us about the cameras, saying that there was nothing seen on the camera, then saying just the one at the front cashier desk doesn't work....
Read moreThis has been the worst pharmacy experience of my life!!! They take a week to fill even a regular prescription! I had neck fusion surgery and had trouble swallowing. Literally couldn’t swallow and it took 4 days to get my steroids. 4 days!!! And I have had to call numerous times to get them to fill my medications because they HAVE my insurance on file and don’t run it until I call!! AND, not only that, but they don’t even RUN OR FILL it until I call!! THEN, it takes days to get filled! This has been an issue for 6 mo the and my insurance HAS NOT CHANGED!!!!! I recently got sick and needed medication for shingles and on the same day, they filled the same medication twice and gave me both bottles with the same prescription number on it! I am in the medical field and knew that there was an issue. I was also given 2 glucose meters on 2 separate days. When I brought both these issues to the attention of the pharmacist, she focused on telling me I was only charged for 1 of each of these. What if it had been a narcotic or a Med that would have done damage if I took both bottles?!?! They are so focused on doing covid tests and vaccines right now that they are taking a week to fill critical medications. If you can’t do your primary job of filling medications, then you need to cut back on ancillary services or get more help!! I am so done with this place!! They deserve...
