The apartments and complex itself are really nice, clean, and safe. However, the people 'in charge' (Hawthorne partners) do not care about their residents and will take every dollar they can from you. The staff onsite is great and friendly, but when it comes to making decisions they usually need to go to their regional manager, Kelly. She will make decisions and have her staff inform you on it - not ever letting you speak to her or understand her reasoning. Also, in our 1 year of living here, the onsite staff was constantly changing.. I think we went through 3 different community managers? It seems like the way they treat their residents may be similar to how they treat their staff.
We had a situation with really loud neighbors above us (there were 7 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 young boys), and had to move units 3 months into our lease. While the onsite staff did what they could to help us, Kelly and the 'decision makers' made no accommodations for our situation and charged us higher rent, lease break fees, etc. If you get lucky and do not need any support from the apartment during your time there, you will be fine. But if you get in an unlucky situation like us, they will take every dollar they can from you. Again, nothing but great things to say about their onsite staff, they just ultimately do not have a lot of decision making power.
While this place is nice, I definitely do not recommend living here based on how poorly we...
Read moreMy dogs and I love this brand new complex!
My one bedroom is a spacious and pretty 882 square ft with a separate laundry room, large walk in shower, stainless steel appliances, pretty kitchen island with granite countertops, and enough storage and cabinet space for single person with 2 large dogs.
Yes, they accept large dogs (certain breed restrictions apply)!! There are plenty of grassy areas to relieve your dog, and there is a nice sized dog park. The complex is serious about cleaning up after pet waste and keeping the dogs on leash, which I love that. My dogs enjoy stopping by the leasing office for their daily milkbones from the staff.
There is plenty of lighting at night and nice breezeway to enter the apartment.
If you are a gym person, they have plenty of equipment.
The leasing Mgr, Rhudy, and leasing agent, Taylor, are so friendly and helpful. They've made my transition into an apartment as smooth as possible. The maintenance guy, Corey, cares about his job and responds quickly to requests.
The Retreat is conveniently located to hwy 25 and I-26.
The complex does have a lot of rules, but i don't mind if it means a clean, safe place for the...
Read moreHello from the beautiful region of Weaverville North Carolina...Since moving back to the area after being away for six years, I was out searching for a new place to rent and had the pleasure of visiting the Retreat at Weaverville this past Tuesday. Everyone at the office was extremely welcoming and a pleasure to meet. Kim was great and Kendra, who is the regional manager, came out of a meeting and introduced herself and made the experience even better.
Most importantly, in the beginning when I first walked in the door, I was greeted by Madison, the Leasing Specialist, and instantly I felt right at home. Madison was very knowledgeable and extremely versed in her job and her personality was fantastic which made it an enjoyable time to be there. Madison was able to give me a tour of the property and of all the apartments I was interested in. All in all, Madison did an awesome job in giving me a tour and sharing the details of the costs to move in and I am hoping to become a resident there in the near future. ...
