Update: I gave them 2 stars bc I loved their previous work. But after I posted my review on yelp, an employee went out of their way to make an account to message me. I’ve attached the photos and updated my stars. Really disappointed with my last visit. I've never had any issues here before until today. I actually loved this place. Drove out of my way to come here. But after today, I will not come back. I didn’t get what I wanted and I did the thing we all dread, I spoke up. Because these are my wedding nails and if any nails should be perfect, it should be your wedding nails. I didn’t get the shape I asked for, I didn’t get the look I wanted, and the jewels I asked for look nothing like the reference picture and just overall very sloppy placement. The moment I spoke up about the shape, it just went all down hill. I got uncomfortable stares and immediately just wanted to leave. The guy who did my nails started to get super rough after I asked for him to redo the shape, he twisted my fingers painfully. I felt so uncomfortable at this point. Then I got the wrong pink and white ombré. I wanted the powder and got like the spray on thing. The manager came over and the nail artist asked “do you want me to just start all over?” They told me I should’ve been more specific. But I thought I was clear… the manager asked me which one I wanted when I walked in, I showed her the reference picture and the manager said along the lines that the photo was powder. But I received the acrylic. The manger kept convincing me to do the acrylic at that point. So I did bc I didn’t want to be there any longer. Once the nail artist started cutting my cuticles, he pulled a little too hard and made me bleed. Still I just kept going with it. He did apologize but I was so ready to go. He got to the jewels, didn’t look at the reference pic, and he asked if I like them. I said “well they don’t look like this” he took them off and did something similar but the jewels were placed very sloppy. I could tell he was done with me. I wanted to cry. These are my wedding nails. I paid $90 and still tipped bc it’s what you do. I will have to get these redone somewhere else. I have never felt so ignored at a nail salon ever. This was my favorite place.

My friend and I both received acrylic gel full sets here. The finished product was decent, and the tech that completed our designs (different tech than those that did our acrylic application) was amazing. However, they have a tendency toward thicker acrylic/polish application than most salons, and this can result in somewhat of a chunky appearance. On top of that, we both received two color gel sets with a simple design (french tip and wavy lines), and were each charged $70 before tip. They also were very slow to start my nails, and my friend was finished thirty minutes before me despite having enough free staff available to complete my service. After my friend left, another girl came & sat next to me with the same tech that worked on my friend. The tech was extremely rude to her, and when the girl requested shorter/more filed nails once her acrylics were shaped, the tech snapped at her to "find someone else next time since you're so picky". I found this extremely unprofessional and it made everyone in the vicinity uncomfortable. The nails I did receive, while thick, are cute, but definitely not the experience I would want for paying $90 (nails plus tip).

I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel like this place gets unfair criticism sometimes. People often run straight to Google when they’re upset, but when they’re happy and satisfied, they rarely bother to share it. I’ve been coming here for a while, and honestly, the techs work so hard. They’re back-to-back with clients all day, breathing in chemicals, dealing with different personalities, and still trying to give everyone what they want. I’ve always felt like they do their best, and if something isn’t perfect, they’re open to fixing it. I think a lot of misunderstandings come from language barriers or different expectations, but that doesn’t mean the service isn’t good. It’s just easier for some people to criticize than to show appreciation. Personally, I’ve had great experiences here, and I appreciate the effort the staff puts in. I’d encourage anyone reading these negative reviews to give the salon a chance—you might be surprised at how much care and skill actually goes into the work.

This was the 2nd time I went to American. I recently moved and was told to go here since they are one of the only places that do dip. The first time I went it was great. Very professional and my nails looked great. They lasted for about 3 weeks. My second time was one of the worst nail experiences I have had. I walked in for my appointment and had to wait ~20 minutes. expected because they were very busy. When I was finally taken I waited another 10 minutes before someone asked me if I was being helped. Someone finally came over and put my nails in acetone which is where I sat there for another 15 minutes before someone came over- nails and fingers completely dried out. After the old dip powder was off I was instructed to another chair for a new technician. When I told the woman the colors I had picked she scolded me about how I was looking at the wrong book (my mistake- it was only my second time). I then picked a different color (upset because the sage green I wanted didn't come in dip). I sat down and the woman started putting powder on my nails- without doing any manicure to them! No cuticle treatment - nothing. I had to ask her to cut them down as my nails were really long. She slammed her can down and started trimming my nails. When I asked for them to be shorter she ignored me and started doing the dip again. She went for the color powder which was not the color I had asked for. Before she started dipping away I told her that it was not the color I had picked out to which she started yelling at me for "telling her the wrong color again". I went and showed her the book where with the color and number I had told her to which she kept saying I told her the wrong color. As we sat back down the woman next to me who had her before I did mentioned she had asked for designs on her nails and she never got them. The technician started yelling at the woman next to me about how she didn't tell her she wanted designs beforehand. She left me to help the woman next to me and I waited another 15 minutes for my nails to get done. After that the technician came back and put the dip on my nails. AFTER the dip was completely on my nails, she tried giving me a manicure and attend to my cuticles. This has always been done BEFORE the dip process. There was nothing she could do because the dip was already on my nails. My nails look horrendous as there is no shape to them, they are completely dried out, and my cuticles look a mess. Not to mention she cut two of my fingers when buffering the dip powder. I love convenience as this is close to my apartment but I will be looking for a new salon that does dip manicure...

i originally was so excited to come and get a pedicure, i actually rounded up some friends and we all went to american nails on a Friday afternoon. 1/20/17. I walked in and was greeted, everyone was very nice and they seemed pretty organized. i was walked to the pedicure tub i would be getting my service in, and starting off i told the guy my water was freezing at least 4 times. i get that i could understand he may not obviously know how i would like my temp. but it remained cold. he did not cut my cuticles, he did not cut my toe nails down at all. he said he would feel more comfortable filing them. i did not understand that. because i could give a damn about the polish, i get pedicures to maintain my feet (get my cuticles cut, my toe nails cut, and the dead skin from my feet off. i also told him i wanted french on my toe nails. he said he was good at french and all would be well. not exactly. the french tips were so thin, even after i asked to make it thinker he proceeded to just smile and laugh at me. it later came out that he was NEW and just moved to town. so basically he was training, he did not actually know how to perform a pedicure as it seems. i get people have to start somewhere, i really do. but i was actually a little irritated that he skipped so many steps even after i told him he was and after i told him i did not like the french, so i asked for a discount or something. money is not the issue i have to say, it was the principle of the fact he was new and i did not get what i paid for. i then asked an older man in a plaid shirt and he did not even look my way he just said "NO DISCOUNT. NO." even after i explained the situation. i really did love american and not paying the high prices of top end salons but i will just go back to my normal routine of doing so. i'm sure everyone else is great but that just wasn't fair to me and...
