Normally I withhold reviews for a place until I get a sample of more than just a single visit. However I was not pleased with my breakfast and felt I should warn people before picking her
I saw the Wawa up the street (opposite side of the road). I originally drove there but decided to support a smaller "mom & pop" owned business
To get directly to the point, the omelette was not good. It was just food imo...
The eggs were so thin that I barely tasted the eggs. What I did taste was the mushrooms and spinach I had ordered. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but I think they are using canned mushrooms and frozen spinach 👀
The side order of shredded hash browns were very crispy and I mean VERY crispy. I guess I should have ordered the other potatoes. The turkey sausage patty was probably frozen too. It normally wouldn't be an issue but it took extra effort to try and cut it with my fork alone. The English muffins were extra buttered which for me was nice, but I know some people would say it had a greasy taste issue
When it was time to pay the cheque I found out they are only a CASH ONLY business. So the $8 omelette and extra 0.75¢ for each topping (had two). Plus $4.00 for sausage patty and$2.00 for the coffee. Equalling the total with tax $16.43 (plus ATM fee of $1.75)
Oddly enough I heard loud people above me. I assume this was for storage boxes? I guess I should expect it but didn't expect how loud it sounds. It's like a really loud neighbour upstairs 😆 (rummaging through stuff and bumping up the flight of stairs both ways
I'm not sure I'll try here again since they are not using fresh ingredients on an omelette. Seems really off when tasting canned food for breakfast (at least for me). Maybe you should check it out for yourself and not take my opinion on it. I'm sorry it didn't work out here for me.
BTW the coffee was okay, I definitely had a few refills on that, the waitress was definitely accommodating and helpful. The CASH ONLY sign was only seen on the CASH register up front (which I missed). I don't think it was on the paper placemat menu. At least it did not stand out. Oh well... That is a $1.75 fee lesson for not keeping enough on me for...
Read moreWe had gone to a diner up the street first because it was the closest to the rink holding our tournament. We called ahead because we knew there would be at least 25 of us, and they told us it was fine, come right over. When we arrived, the waitress was incredibly rude to us, so we left, and came to DK. We called ahead for this one too.
When we arrived, we received some bewildered stares from the staff (there were definitely a little over 25 of us, and more young teens than adults), but we were seated immediately, as promised, and the staff was wonderful. We were served immediately, and the food was great. I can't remember our waitress' name, but she was so upbeat and accommodating, and the reports from the teens on the other tables' were the same. Great service, good food. We will absolutely be...
Read moreVery friendly staff with what seems to be a lot of regular patrons. The inside felt like a traditional diner with counter top seating and tables. There was an addition put on for more seating. Coffee was fresh and service was quick for home fries and French toast. With the coffee, my bill came to just over $8. The French toast tasted like traditional homemade French toast. Nothing special or extra, but it was fine. The home fries were made on the skillet, but they lacked flavor except for some crispness around some parts. A little peppers and onions would have gone along way to make these tasty. I would go back and request they add the peppers and onions and I'd probably try something other than the French toast. Overall, the value was good, the staff was great, the atmosphere was fine, the...
