I can not say enough good things about this place! Halls Kitchen is my go to for any party that I am hosting, or attending and need to bring that "wow!" dish! Their food is phenomenal! They have a sandwich and salad refridgerator with fresh salads of all kinds! I love their cobb salad but all the salads are amazing! The sandwiches and deli salads are wonderful as well!. In the other cases are the prepared dinners and side dishes. Again, they are phenomenal! I stock up when I am in their and freeze some of the dishes for nights when I want a treat, or don't feel like cooking! I love the meatballs, the lasagnas, and the various ravioli dishes! The appetizer section is also another gem! The dips, artichoke and spinach, or taco never disappoint! The dessert section which includes beautiful cupcakes, cookies, and mini cheesecakes is a must for all occasions! I would say the food is their best attribute but I have to say it is the people that work their that will make your trip truly worth while! The employees have always been extremely courteous and helpful on all of my visits! They always take the time out of their busy day to talk to me about what I am buying and how to serve it. They walk me through which dishes need to be reheated at what temp, and provide helpful suggestions regarding which dishes go together well. I am so glad I found Halls Kitchen! I...
Read moreThey have a lot of great stuff. Their cranberry walnut chicken salad is heavenly, and their sandwiches are alright. HOWEVER, I recommend that you go elsewhere for your lunch meats/cheeses. All of the reviews saying how great the deli is, are FALSE. Their deli is unsanitary. The place is disgusting. The meat, once opened, gets stored in a plastic bag, and put in a bucket under the display. The bucket sits in moldy water, and while the meats may not be touching each other, when they take them out, the bags get turned inside out sometimes, and what's more is they don't replace the bags very often at all. I can't imagine that moldy water vapor accumulating on the bags is any good for you either. They also have mice and cockroaches in their basement, where the lockers are. Several people have reported cockroach infestations in their homes, after leaving their jackets in the lockers. I do NOT know how they pass the health inspections, since their sanitation habits are reminiscent of that of a pig sty. My recommendation is that you don't buy their cold cuts, or cheeses, and that if you are looking for a job, make this your last resort, or just forget about it completely. I don't understand how you can let it get that bad, and still stay...
Read moreThis is the greatest grocery in greater Hartford. They provide delicious, freshly prepared foods, incredible meats and seafood, all the grocery you require, farm fresh produce and an incredible deli with a huge variety of cold cuts and unique sandwiches. Nothing is ever a problem whether I need 200 lbs. of chicken quarters the next day or 50 lbs. of London broil sliced thin for beef jerky. With a front and rear entrance it's an easy in and out and there are never any long lines because the employees jump in as soon as two people are waiting to be cashed out. It is so nice to shop at a grocery where people answer the phone and take orders, get to know my name, say thank you, and solve all my food/menu issues.
The nicest thing I can say about them is for years I cooked at a homeless shelter and every time I came to pick up groceries to feed the poor, the folks at Hall's always seemed to toss in my truck a couple of extra cases of fruit and vegetables and stuff for the children. They are...
