It's about time for me to write my peace of mind since it has happened to me before on a few visits back and as of today. I drove there with my 6 months old child, and it took me 35 mins to get there. Went in first to ask if they're accepting items, I was told yes and to bring my stuff in before I can sign in. About an hour later, I got the notification and went back in only to be told, 'My items smelled as though they were moldy but there is mold when checked,' said the cashier. Of course, you didn't see any because there is NONE!!! I was mortify because, to my knowledge there was no mold scent whatsoever, nothing but brand new, gentle used items, I even washed the activity mat the day before.

Im not upset because my items were rejected. I'm upset with fact that management have the audacity to lie about something like that because they just dont want to purchase your items. They don't care about anyone's labor, time and gas, that person took to get all the way there, just to be told basically your stuff is rubbish and only to be humiliated in such manner. They could have just told me right there and then when I asked, that they are not accepting. I stood there and saw many bins were getting accepted except for mine. Again, it has happened to me before and now I am starting to wonder as to why. Have some respect and learn how to value ones time.

A lot of people sound pretty hesitant when I bring up Once Upon a Child, regardless of whether I'm talking about selling or buying clothes. The two most common things I seem to hear are, "Do they really pay you anything? Is it even worth going?", and "I don't feel comfortable putting used clothes on my kids".

Well for the first comment, they don't pay a ton per outfit (because they don't charge a lot when reselling it), but I find that I'm usually bringing a massive pile of clothes, which adds up quick. It's not uncommon for me to get a payout of $50-$75. Whatever they don't accept, I donate to charity, which I imagine is the formula most people follow.

This brings me to the second comment. They generally do not accept clothing unless it is in excellent shape. Because of this, most of the clothes on the rack look as good as new. This is especially true for toddlers and babies who are notorious for only wearing an outfit once or twice (or never) before growing out of it. In fact, a lot of the clothing still has its original tags on it. I take that $50 and buy ten to fifteen new things for my kids to wear without ever spending a dime of my own money.

Overall, my experience with the staff has been excellent. The staff is made up of mostly younger folks, but they do a great job of getting everything processed a quickly as possible. If you haven't given them a shot yet because you're hesitant for some reason, just stop in and check it out. I'm confident you'll find your new go-to place for clothes...

I have never felt as insulted, demeaned and degraded as your staff made me feel this afternoon. I turned in baby clothes to sell that were laundered. I was then told on front of other customers and staff there was a bad smell to those clothes? That was totally false and embarrassing. Your staff lacks the customer service acumen to appropriately handle situations like this. These clothes clearly smelled of laundry soap. There was no bad smell. This was a case of lazy staff members sticking their nose in a bag and deciding they didn’t want to deal with it. These clothes were completely clean and in good shape. When I removed them from the bag one by one they clearly smelled clean. There was no odor. I am incredibly disappointed in the way I was treated. A copy of this complaint will be submitted to the BBB as well. I just feel insulted. Absolutely embarrassed by the kids you have working in your store. Completely unacceptable and a disgusting display of disrespect. I will never shop there again. Stay away from this store because when they are too lazy to process your clothes they will make up some outlandish nonsense and embarrass you in front of everyone.
