(4/5) Customer Service: Appointment started 30 minutes later than scheduled as the hair braider had someone in their chair. While I did notice all chairs were occupied, which indicated that my appointment could not begin, it would've been nice if someone explained what was happening. Instead, I was just expected to sit and wait. Once the hair braiding started everyone was friendly. (3/5) Price: Hair is not included. I believe it is above market especially due to the fact that I did not receive the service I paid for; this will be discussed further in the Product criteria. EDIT: I had to take down a few of my braids because of how they were tugging on my hairline. (0/5) Product: I was scheduled for knotless braids and the braids I received are not knotless. They are an oddly done low knotted braids. Unfortunately this did not become apparent to me until I was home and got a really good look in the mirror. The way the hairline was completed, the chunky (and needlessly heavy) braids are hanging on in a very precarious manner that makes me think this protective style will do more damage than good.    Read moreDue to the dramatic price increase that I was told when I showed up for my appointment for a microloc retie verses the price online and that I booked, the constant talking, and the touching of my face; I decided not to book again. There was a standing appointment that wasn't confirmed. However, to my surprise, I received a confirmation 2 days before, so I immediately canceled. Despite not confirming and canceling 2 days before because someone falsely confirmed, I was sent an invoice for $155.00. I had been going to Onyx for years, have never missed an appointment, nor forgot to cancel. It is so unfortunate that this took place! The salon is no longer about hair and treating clients right! Also, they are false advertising, manipulating the appointment system, and stealing!
Given the false accusation of the business in their response, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I NEVER confirmed the appointment. Furthermore, I received a confirmation despite NEVER confirming the appointment, which prompted me to cancel 2 days in advance. Due to canceling, the appointment does not reflect in your online booking system. I sent that proof to the BBB, as well!    Read moreSo on Wednesday the 13 of May the shop posted that they were open so I took the opportunity to make an appointment online for 10 am on the 14th of May I then proceeded to call them to verify the appointment the young lady asked me if I can come at 9am I said sure I was so excited to finally get my hair done because school was getting ready to start and I wouldnât have the time for it. 5 min before my appointment after driving 45 min from Fort Lauderdale I received a call stating that the stylist will be 20 min late I was ok with that because things happen sometimes. However when I got there the shop was dirty and I was not to intrigue with the conversation that was going on. Nevertheless I sat and waited. 20 min went by 30 min went by no spoke to me nor updated me on the stylist.
