We decided to try the Redwood Rec Center outdoor pool today. We were there only 20 minutes before deciding to leave. There was only one lifeguard watching the whole pool and this female lifeguard was so busy chatting with a guy in the pool she wasn't paying attention to anyone else. At one point, the guy in the pool actually pulled her down and she partially landed in the pool. There was even a group of day care kids there with only one adult and this lifeguard posted herself on the other side of the pool, away from these kids. This was ridiculous enough, but my kids can all swim so i just made sure my children were all ok and safe.After about 20 minutes the head lifeguard came out and decided to close the pool "due to weather". He said he heard thunder, but noone else heard the thunder. We saw him walking around the pool with his phone googling cloud formations. This guy had no idea what he was talking about. He said they had to wait for the clouds to pass before he would reopen the pool. It had been partly cloudy all day. Was he going to wait for all the clouds to pass? Granted there had been intermittent sprinkling but no heavy rains, thunder nor lightning. Everyone knows you get out of the water when you see lightning, not when a truck is rolling down Redwood Rd and you mistake it for thunder. It was a waste of time and money. Don't...
Read moreThe Pool is nice and clean, would certainly come again. They have a couple lifeguards watching over the area. Everyone seems nice and they were kind in answering any questions I had. The depths are 3-12 ft. Changing rooms and showers right by the gate.
