I’ve lived in Stonington all my life and have gone to Sandy’s on occasion to get a sandwich week lets just say never again, I went there with a friend this morning and got a sandwich which was okay, after eating at the picnic table in the back we decided to have a conversation, we spoke for about 30 minutes before one of the workers came out of the business and moved her car, the one we were standing next to, away from us, another 10 minutes later the same red haired older woman came up to us and asked us what we were doing and why we were there for so long in a very rude way, I told her we were talking and waiting for a friend and she said it was unusual for people to be there for that long and walked away, 10 minutes after that she came out and checked all the locks on the storage containers outside. We then called our friend and told him not to come so he wouldn’t give this business money. If you want to be treated like a criminal for eating outside of a restaurant come here! As for me I will be getting my sandwiches elsewhere Real’s is much...
Read moreI have been purchasing sandwiches, prepared meals, fruits, and vegetables from Sandy's for well over 15 years. I have always held the food emporium in the highest regard. Unfortunately, over the last 12-18 months, there has been a noticeable decline in the quality of Sandy's stock. On at least 4 occasions during the last year, I have made a purchase that, once home and unwrapped, appears to have mold on it. Yesterday, I purchased cream of tomato soup that contained pieces of plastic, anywhere from 1/8 of an inch to an inch long. I regret that after well-over a decade of enjoying Sandy's food, I will no longer be a customer. Of note-The only reason why I gave this one star is because I had to rate it in order to get my...
Read moreUsed to love this place. My recent trip has left me resentful of the wasted money spent. The fruit was small. Usually big a beautiful. The cortland apples were soft sticky and mealy. The pre cooked chicken cordon blue is tasteless. Bismul at best. I actually had to add my own fresh garlic and orageno to the creamy tomato soup. Their spice rubbed salmon was terrible. Over cooked and dry. They should go back to the pecan crusted salmon they used to do. It was moist and delicious. I would always count on this store to have the perfect ingredients with the perfect flavors. Very sadden by the decline in quality. Never have I ever had to scoff at their prices because of the great quality. Lesson learned. Never again....
