Update 20230609 Again great service, M Parsons checked furnace condenser drain flow, cleaned unit
Update 20221022: Good Guys Matt Parsons overachieved again. Found a water leak in the furnace evaporator (?) pressure relief box that was spilling over into the catch pan that I hadn't noticed. He explained the purpose of the evaporator pressure relief box, its normal routine maintenance need during annual furnace check. Fortunately I had a spare available when I had tried to fix a humidifier drain leak myself and bought it, and Matt replaced the device and properly also its elbow pvc pipe for the drain without any question as part of the maintenance call. As we have two furnaces, he checked the other's box and found it to be almost clogged as I don't recollect any prior non-Good Guys company (that I had used for 25+ years) ever removing/cleaning the device for annual furnace maintenance, or even mentioning it. Matt also explained my questions regarding if an electronic air filter is worth installing by responding the different types/styles and thickness of all types of filters including basic 1' thick, 4' thick, and electronic so I could decide which is best for our house. He described what Good Guys installation would be for a thicker width air filter versus an electronic. He also did something else I don't recollect any other company's tech ever told me was being done, which i think was checking the electrical capacitance (ok I might not remember the exact term but something like that) of the gas ignitor and advising if it was near end of life as it had to be replaced before a couple of times when it burned out. He said it was showing normal wear but nothing to be concerned with, and he said visually what would be found on the ignitor as indications of wear. Reasonably, he did say our furnaces' lives have 7 years past the normal units' expectancies and to be prepared if something unreasonably cost replacement surfaces what the rough cost might be for entire furnace replacement and what to expect for an replacement install. If all holds true, the cost would be far more fair than someone else I know who had theirs replaced recently. He also told me the brand name furnaces they have which were recognizable (I've toured some homes recently and have encountered some brand names never known before) and explained what brands they supply are virtually comparable other than exterior paint. We have had no problems with the 2 furnaces' winter checkups whatsoever since Matt's visit. He also remembered to ask if one of the units' gas odor returned which it hasn't since he found a loose gas union prior visit, that was caused by another company who refused to acknowledge the issue and sidestepped the topic with excuses and refused to acknowledge that their high school trainee (who did the work while a normal tech watched) caused the leak. I have had no recurrence of the gas odor leak since Matt fixed the problem the other company refused to acknowledge.
I have recommended Good Guys to several relatives recently and feel confident they are seasoned, reputable professionals. I will continue to use them and will post otherwise if something changes for HVAC.
Also found out in my area they have plumbing and roofing services added to hvac.
Original post: Good Guys Matt Parsons was very professional and courteous. Explained all reasons for procedures performed and provided meaningful advice on what problem symptoms to be aware of for the future. Explained their reservation software application's features well for improved use and for urgent service requests. Communicated via text before, on arrival and departure of the call. The only tech I recollect in recent years that cleaned out debris from inside the hvac compressor unit beyond typical wash down with garden hose. Also corrected a loose gas pipe fitting that was causing issues from a previous other company's furnace service, and advised on a severe condensation drain pipe clog. Will definitely be a repeat customer. Several neighbors have been...
Read moreUpdate: Tyler came out for what I thought was a maintenance call to replace the furnace filter. It turned out to be a lot more work than that - changing the system from vertical to horizontal l, needing to order new parts, and bringing everything up to code.
It sounds like the previous tech worked with what he had, and more or less put a band-aid on it, whereas Tyler is actually doing it the proper and correct way. At the time, I was really happy with Brian's work, as I know the HVAC situation was messy, out of code, and it was a challenge to work with. Brian also agreed to install the AC compressor that we purchased on Amazon, and was, quite frankly, too big for our house. We really want to add a second bathroom
I’m no HVAC expert, but overall, I really have been impressed with what I’ve seen from the company. They’ve been super nice, and worked with me throughout.
Previous Review: I had a 5-star experience with Good Guys’ HVAC technician Brian back in June of 2023, but this review is 3 stars because I cannot get ahold of anyone to save my life!
The chat bot on the site keeps telling me to try again later. I’ve called the main Good Guys number, and Brian’s personal number several times. It connects me immediately to an IVR. I’ve left messages multiple times under HVAC — option 1 and option 2, and have not received a callback.
I’ve texted Brian directly (update: Brian is no longer with the company) from the thread we had during June, and he hasn’t responded.
I’ve tried to set up a new service call online, but wanted to ask the technician Brandon a question first - Brian was not listed- and my message would not go through.
I don’t know what has changed in the past few months, but it’s absolutely incredible how difficult they make it to speak with an actual person, whether through text, online, a call, or a callback.
I’ll happily update the review once this...
Read moreGREAT EXPERIENCE WITH FURNACE AND AIR CONDITIONER INSTALLATION. Good Guys is just what we were hoping to find. First, they visited for an in-home diagnostic and quote. Even though I said we were leaning toward a new installation, the technician gave us a frank evaluation of our old system at no charge. We were given options for a possible repair path and were not pressured in any way. Once we decided to quote a new system, we were given a very fair price on only the equipment we needed, the right size and appropriate for our 3000 ft home. The was no up-selling and again, no pressure at all. And the price they quoted was the price we paid, down to the penny! We secured financing through their website which took about 5 minutes. We did invite two other contractors for quotes, but Good Guys had the best price, and the best overall visit. The installation process was just as straightforward and seamless. We were able to get on the schedule quickly, and my technician (the same one who evaluated and quoted) was my point of contact, answering questions quickly when they came up. He also lead the install team of three gentleman who accomplished the full installation in about 4 hours. Again, no surprises, no up charges, no service contracts, no nonsense.
This is a job that we had dreaded for years, but was accomplished with very little stress, thanks to Good Guys. Please invite them to quote your project or service your equipment. You...
