Please, take your dog somewhere else for daycare and boarding!!!!
They lied to me and refused to (or couldn't because of negligence) share details about injuries my dog sustained while in their care on 2 different occasions. While almost all other daycares have some video footage you can watch live, they have no video footage, and now I know why... Most of the staff has been very kind, but they lack the knowledge and staffing necessary to run a safe doggie daycare. The owner has made it very clear he is not liable for my dog's injuries, but that's about the only thing that is clear about the entire situation.
My dog was allowed to keep playing after sustaining multiple puncture wounds, one of which was still gaping open and bleeding when I picked him up. When they called me to let me know, I was told, "No one saw what happened and it was just a scratch and we cleaned it up, but he's so happy and acting like nothing happened!"
After sending an email requesting information, I received a voice mail from Chris the owner, summarized, "You were unable to inform your team of the details of the attack because your kid was sick, and you left immediately after the incident. Before the incident occurred, you were watching Indy outside and everyone was playing and good. Indy was playing with another dog and was being overly aggressive, but was just playing. The other dog got annoyed by Indy, there was a quick scuffle, and both dogs ended up with puncture wounds. You pulled Indy and cleaned his puncture up and thought it looked fine. These things happen when they're playing and sometimes things get out of hand and can escalate into the next situation. Fortunately, Indy does not show any signs of aggression and he does well. This was all just friendly play and these things can happen. You knew you should have called back but got distracted. The waiver cover's you so there isn't anything you can do because these things do occur, and your facility is different than others because dogs get to play all day and that is what I pay for and what you provide. He should be tired from playing all day."
When I sent an email back asking for specific details about the attack, and if my dog acted in self-defense or aggression, I received this back, "Yes, it was Indy that started it. Again, he was playing fine and then it turned into something more. As far as the video footage, it is against Hounds Town policy to share it."
This is the 2nd time my dog sustained injuries at Hounds Town and the second time I was told over the phone "we didn't see what happened". After complaining via email, I got vague, conflicting information regarding the 2nd round of injuries, or no response at all after asking for details of the encounter to ensure my dog does not have this situation happen again somewhere else. There will not be a 3rd opportunity for my dog to be injured by their negligence!!
I am out hundreds of dollars in vet bills, been told my dog isn't aggressive but was the aggressor, that no one saw what happened but the owner saw everything and it was just aggressive play, and absolutely no apologies or offering any additional details except vague opinions.
Bottom line, this is negligence from the owner, and the owner is hiding behind a waiver to save face and refuse accountability. I paid for my dog to be monitored and in the presence of staff at all times, which is the law. If aggression is bubbling, you don't let aggressive dogs keep "playing" to the point one sustains multiple puncture wounds to their cheek/eye, chin, and neck. My or the other dog should have been removed from the group before the situation escalated. My dog (and yours!) deserves way better than this daycare can and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBest doggie daycare Iāve ever found. The employees here are incredible with my big Great Dane! It is so nice to know I can feel assured that she is well cared for, safe, loved, and then exhausted when she comes home. When she has to stay overnight she gets her own big room with a dog bed. There are multiple safety features getting the dogs in and out of the facility. Safety is my #1 concern and my Scarlett has been going here for a year and a half and I do not have to worry about her!
After seeing a couple of the bad reviews about injuries, all I can say is after years of dog rescue and having multiple dogs, and fosters, dog fights can happen. They usually work it out, or need a staff member to step in. I did worry, initially, about potential fights or injuries, but after seeing how the staff interact and break up potential fighting I am completely comfortable with how things are run. Chris, the owner, is there the majority of the time and has extensive experience with dogs and their behavior. Small scuffles can result in minor injuries, but my girl has never come home with anything more than a scrape and she doesnāt back down if another dog starts something. Personally a minor injury or a small puncture should not be reason to leave a bad review, it sounds like that person needs to keep their dog in a bubble. I trust HT 100%. Canāt say enough great things...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHands down one of the best! I got my rescue pup in May and did extensive research on a day care that would help support and reinforce the behaviors and training I was doing at home. Too often in the past, other day cares have unintentionally created more problems for me at home and I wanted to make sure I started my girl out right with the proper help. Smaller groups, temperament specific, staff ratio per dog great (they will correct bad behavior), excellent communication on how my dog was doing. We have consistently been doing day care and boarding and the staff is incredibly flexible with my travel schedule, always happy to see my girl, always a friendly greeting and it's obviously they love what they do and the pups they work with everyday. I also did extensive price comparisons and find they offer fair pricing that is competitive in the area. My pup always comes flying out to greet me with tail wags and smiles and then pops right back to staff to get her hugs goodbye. Strongly recommend Hounds...
