Michaels — Local services in Whitehall

Very large store with large clearance sections. Prices are high but you can get. Good deals on clearance or sales. I prefer Amazon or dollar tree. I feel this store is more for people with lots of time and money to spend. I did see they have a large class area that looks interesting and. Definitely adds value to this store. There was one casher no line but I ended up taking 10 minutes to check out. First someone cut in front of me. Where the cashier still processed to process their order. The cashier aggressively tried to get them to sign up for a store card. When it was my turn again aggressively tried to get me to sign up. I did choose to sign up. Partially due to hearing all about how employees our tracked on sign ups. Employees are very energetic and up lifting given the extra time I spent checking out almost pleasantly experience. Almost due to the fact I was in a hurry to get somewhere. I almost had to leave with out my purchase due to the check out time. The entire store maybe had a total of 4 customers including me. Items where easy to find. Shelves where completely stocked. Parking Not to bad . Enlarge parking lot. There’s room even for 18 wheelers but you do have a little walk from parking spots. Not bad if your not handicapped. My mother has knee pain and had trouble walking from her handicap spot. Good thing I was able to park the car for her. This store is amazing!!! I came in there with four of my own balloons and picked up an order for 4 balloons direct from the store on a Friday night. It was super busy, yet Viviana immediately went to check if they could fill up the balloons I brought in (being that they were oversized). Wesam (one of the managers), came out in no time and said they could, even though he hadn't seen a balloon of that size before. We were all nervous about the possibility of it popping because we weren't quite sure what the full size looked like. Wesam asked me to tell him when I thought the balloon was full and I gave my conservative "stop" a little early because as it turned out, the balloon didn't float properly with the amount of helium in there. Viviana and Wesam were SOOO patient with me and took their time to try and undo the balloon tie so as not to waste my purchase (even though I said it was ok to throw it out), they took their time trying to save it so they could add more helium (and successfully did so!). At one point when we weren’t paying attention one of the balloons came loose and floated to the ceiling… they felt bad and insisted on purchasing new balloons as a replacement for me (even though I said they didn't have to do that). They were both incredibly considerate and kind throughout the entire visit. Today's experience at Michaels convinced me to never shop there again. Prior to today's visit I received sketchy details about why Michaels does not offer teacher discount, but if I could prove that another store sold products at a lower price they would price match. Many teacher items are not listed in advertisements, so it was up to me to provide proof of price. Who has the time? Today I was looking for baby shower decorations. After walking around the store, where no help was to be found, I asked a cashier where those items were. Surprise! This craft store does not carry any baby shower materials. So, I entered the checkout line only to wait for 20 minutes while the single clerk worked on a return and pricing issue, she called for help up front. Some time later another clerk appeared and had no customer friendly words to share. Michaels does not value your time. Another lady had to leave the checkout line since she had to return to work.
