I had never gone furniture shopping before and had no idea the pain it would be going to a large chain like bobs. I walked in thinking I could find the couch I saw online, ask a sales associate, and then leave with the couch. Unfortunately they don't have any furniture in stock except floor models despite advertising "in stock" on their website. No sales associate approached my brother and I until we asked someone at a desk who called for an associate. The associate we got was very energetic which was nice at first until everything was just shoved down my throat. It felt like I was trying to buy a car. She offered coffee and snacks which I denied and was then was brought to check out the couch. She was constantly trying to get me to buy more expensive furniture and I had to repeatedly say I just want the love seat. As I'm sitting there I see the $599 price tag on her tablet jump up to almost $900. She added on things like the white glove policy I belive and the goof proof. Eventually she started explaining what those were and it felt like pulling teeth to deny them. After about 5 minutes back and forth the price came down to a little over $600. After denying everything she had to verify the sale with her manager who just did the exact same thing of pushing very hard on the goof proof which after seeing many 1 star reviews is not worth it and every claim gets denied. Once the manager was done aggressively pushing the warranty he left the rest to the original sales associate. After all this pain so far she then tried pushing financing the couch over and over which I denied. This entire time I'm just holding my debit card trying to pay to the best of my ability. She then asks if I want to pay on two cards and other options but please for the love of god just take my card. After this painful process I was then told the couch isn't actually in store and I wold have to wait over a week to schedule it and almost two weeks just to pick it up. They said they would update me on the shipping but never did so. I had to call support a day after they said I could schedule and support said the couch still hadn't arrived at the store. Eventually I was able to schedule an appointment to pick it up which was the best part. I backed my truck up to the loading dock and Bob the loading guy was very quick and helpful getting it in only taking a minute or two to pick up my couch. I didn't expect all this time and effort to be spent on one couch which I am now finding out is poorly built, engineered, and not very comfortable with horrible instructions on how to put it together. Well, we finally decided that this weekend, we were buying new furniture, no ifs, ands or buts... So we went shopping. Stopped at a few places, but nothing caught our eye. Then we stopped at Bob's Discount (Whitehall) & we are so very happy we did b/c thats where we met, Stephen, sales rep. & Jasmine, manager. Stephen, our rep. is down to earth & knows how to read his customers. He let Vito & I, banter with each other over what we wanted & answered any of our questions. Stephen is knowledgeable & wasn't pushy in any way. He was able to follow our flow, right from the start. Meaning, we are, no filters, get to the point, mean what we're saying, kind of ppl. As most ppl, we work hard for our money & barely have any time for ourselves to spend it. So in other words, we want, what we want. No more, no less, & as quick as possible. Well, Stephen quickly figured us out. He directed us to what we were looking for. He gave us the info we needed & knew when our decision was made, that we were readyto go. After we finally made our decision, thats when we met Jasmine, his manager. She is also great & down to earth. She is very pleasant to talk with while putting the finishing touches on your new purchase. She also knows how to read ppl. She trusted that the sales rep. did his job, which showed us that she respected him & our decision. You know when you've made your final decision & then you go to sign & pay for said item, the "end" person tries to get you to buy an add on, (ie; extra insur., some protectant, ect.). Well, be assured neither Jasmine, nor Stephen try to do that. They both, show respect with your decision. So, to put an end on my, "probably too long to read," review, I/we had a great experience & will most definitely recommend to our friends & to whomever decides to read this entire review. Read moreMy Wife and I originally had an amazing experience at the Bobs Whitehall Pa location. We went a total of two times until we found the perfect living room set. Both times we were greeted by a very helpful salesperson. We ended up purchasing a living room set on June 8 2023 and was promised delivery between 9am-12pm on June 13 2023. Gosh we were excited!!!
We received purchase order and even had the opportunity to pick out our delivery date and time. We paid for our furniture and received a physical and emailed receipt with our delivery address, telephone number, and delivery date. The wheels were in motion!! Can’t wait!!
On Saturday I received an email with instructions on how to get ready for our June 13th delivery. We followed the directions and made sure that we had our living room ready and that someone was to be home to to greet the delivery team.
The night before I threw away our old furniture and my wife took a day off from work. Our careers are very demanding and it’s difficult for us both to take time off. We were really excited to get our furniture today but.. our delivery did not show. Concerned, we called Bobs to see what was going on.
The customer service representative informed us that our delivery was rescheduled for June 20, 2023 a day my wife and I are both working. We were told that since we paid for our furniture via check that the manager made the decided to reschedule our delivery. We were never informed and did not receive any notification that our delivery was being rescheduled. We never received a courtesy call, email, or a simple text.
Nevertheless my wife who is 8 months Pregnant does not have living room furniture to get comfy on and now we need to take another day off from work. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional.
The whole experience of purchasing from the Bobs Whitehall location needs to be worked on. The success of a company is nearly based on trust, relationship and communication. Not to mention referrals.
