Bland, bland, bland, and bland.
I know it's a recently-opened location of a chain, yet it appears to have already succumbed to the simplistic Neanderthal-like palates of Lehigh Valley residents.
I ordered delivery, so I understood that I'm not going to get the best in texture or temperature, but was hoping for some cajun-esque flavor on a Sunday night because I was too lazy to go get groceries. As an appetizer, I ordered the calamari. It was cooked to perfectly tender, and didn't stray to mushy or chewy, and was simply floured instead of breaded, which is the best way to do it and it held up surprisingly well to being transported; however, the flour clearly wasn't seasoned at all. I put a sizeable quantity of both salt and pepper on it to make it edible.
I ordered a crab po' boy. The bread was lightly toasted, vegetables fresh, crab meat fresh... but no flavor at all. The crab meat had less flavor than ground chicken breast. I applied the little container of dressing/sauce (why wasn't it already on the sandwich??), and that brought it around enough to be edible. I ordered cajun fries, and either they messed up and gave me regular fries, or they were the sorriest cajun fries I've ever encountered. The battering was good and crisp, but they were once again devoid of all flavor. I heavily salted and peppered them to bring them around.
As a side, I ordered the garlic bread. I drizzled on the included butter and... it tasted like bread. I actually checked the packing slip to make sure it was supposed to be garlic bread and not just regular bread sticks. But no, it was labeled as garlic bread. Where the garlic ended up, we'll never know, but definitely nowhere close to my side.
Fortunately, the restaurant is close to my work, and I intend to try it again in a few weeks and I'll change the review if they start adding flavor. It's a shame, as it's clear that they have processes in place to perfectly execute the preparation and cooking...
Read moreThis was, by far, the strangest seafood place Ive ever been to. There was only one server, and the place got packed on Valentine’s Day. I don’t think they were expecting that volume, and the poor server is the only one here trying to get orders, run food, take phone calls., and cash people out
Why they’re so poorly staffed is beyond me, but on top of that, they seemed completely lost. The woman that did end up running the food didn’t seem to know the tables, or who ordered what. I don’t know if the tables aren’t numbed or lettered, or where the confusion was, but she yelled at the only server every single time she came out to run food, and then it all came at varying times.
Some people got their food first, I got my food 10-15 minutes later. The huspuppies were ok, but did not taste fresh. The fried pickles were awful, soggy, and the breading falling off. They were inedible. The boils seemed fine, and the popcorn chicken took the longest without the sauce I asked for on the side.
The server did the best she could, but it clearly wasn’t her fault. On top of the weird atmosphere, no TVs on, music playing super low, Everytime the door opened, this annoying jingle plays over and over and over. It’s all we heard the entire night, including everyone screaming at each other in the kitchen.
A huge mess & very disorganized. Give the server a raise as she handled it all with a smile. Kudos to her. Won’t be coming back, it just took...
Read moreOrdered this food thru Doordash (so no deductions for food being cold / not as fresh). Ordered from Crab Du Jour Xpress Cajun Seafood the other night through Doordash and I have to say overall I was very disappointed with my experience, especially after reading so many positive reviews.
The Good: The calamari was delicious, a bit on the salty side, but lightly breaded as described. Came with a small cup of marinara sauce, portion size was great, could easily be split between two people with plenty of food. The sweet potato fries that came with my Crab Meat Po Boy were also pretty good.
The Bad: Most of my displeasure with this order stems from the Crab Meat Po Boy I ordered. Initially I did not notice it, but after taking my first bite I noticed there was almost no crab meat on the po boy. I'm not sure if this was a mistake or how the sandwich normally comes, but this was quite literally a bread, tomato, and lettuce sandwich. For the 15 bucks paid for this sandwich I got two small tablespoons of crab meat. Most of this "sandwich" consisted of bread and I found myself still very hungry after eating this. The sweet potato fries while good, were soggy, it was more like eating a mashed up sweet potato than fries.
Overall, I'll give three stars for the calamari and the sweet potato fries, as well as the order being well packaged. The Crab Meat Po Boy was beyond disappointing and I don't think I'll...
