Visiting family in Wichita Falls, my son and I were out yesterday searching for fun and interesting spots downtown when we wandered into Magpie Collective. It was one of those shops that truly draws you in with it's welcoming atmosphere and, wow, so much to see! Home Decor, Furniture, Serving Pieces, Jewelery, Collectibles, Clothing, LPs...every nook and corner displayed high quality antiques and vintage items thoughtfully arranged into beautiful tableaus. In addition, the shop featured the work of local artists and craftspeople, peppered about it's two floors. It was a blast to explore! And there to assist was their warm and helpful staff - including a very charming lady who I can only assume was the owner. Unfortunately, it came time to head back. My son had admired so many pieces before settling on a super cool necklace crafted right here in Wichita Falls!
All in all, Magpie Collective is a wonderful shop - packed with treasures, large and small, priced at a point where you can actually afford to walk out with something truly special. We'll most certainly be back on our next trip to...
Read moreThis shop is amazing, with all sorts of interesting treasures and friendly staff people. Over the last year or so, I've bought vintage candlesticks that look like flowers, a vintage berry-colored leather purse, handmade clay earrings that look like little mushrooms, a plant in a cute planter, a pretty shirt (plus-size!), and a ton of cute stickers from local artists. Plus, they have art pop-up events. This past weekend I painted glaze on a ceramic mushroom downstairs (with Carol Castro ceramics), while upstairs a different artist was teaching a class on making earrings....
Read moreWhat a place. Came in yesterday and immediately found a rich selection of books. I expected to find perhaps some cheap romance or weak science fiction, but no; I found Jean-Paul Sartre, Nella Larsen, and some genuine rarities. Great selection of anything you could want. Clothes, ceramic dogs, an odd lampshade portraying golfing cats.. again, anything you could want, I imagine. I also notice they make support for local artists a focal part of their business and I always love seeing that kind of operation.
