I remember this being a reputable BBQ spot back in the day. We visited our family this past weekend and stopped in to eat here. We were not greeted, the guys serving the food never spoke a word. It was like school cafeteria lunch-lady service at best. Cold unwelcoming like they hated being there. The food had no flavor at all. I had brisket and 2 sides. The brisket was dryer than a popcorn fart, no seasoning. I took it home and my dogs wouldn't even eat it. The broccoli cheese was like canned mush, again no flavor, just bland watery cheese. Awesome BBQ! Great smoked flavor in all meats. Décor is straight out of the early 70's, which may not appeal to some but shows the old school ways. Reminds me of my grandparents home. Dine-in is cafeteria style, with a serving line and pay at the end. Take cash or check with you - they don't take plastic. I suggest the 3 meat combo plate, but that comes with a food coma warning! Sides are serve yourself for dine in, so you can get as much as you can fit on your plate. The potato salad is just OK, but the fried green beans are awesome. Older, established cafeteria style country sit down joint, just out of downtown. Nice atmosphere. The people are very nice. But the food is heavily overcooked. My turkey was decent, well seasoned but not Smokey, like it was just roasted. The pork was bland, and tough. The brisket, which is supposed to be the pride of Texas BBQ, was dang near inedible. Way too done, like they cooked it all day yesterday and then again today. None of the meat tasted like it was smoked at all, just roasted.
