This is a nice store with great products, but unfortunately the staff is not so nice and in my opinion very unprofessional. Therefore I am unsure whether this incident to place due to the color of my skin, or purely do to the unprofessional negligence of the staff.
I am a 28 year old Mexican female, who has recently decided to start my own sweet treats business. I came into this store looking to purchase items in which would be used to make coco bombs. The molds I purchased were placed on a shelf and labeled large molds. I then asked a member of the staff if the large molds were all the same size, due to the molds not having measurements on them, they replied "yes they are," and continued with what they were previously doing. Along with purchasing these molds I also purchased $60 worth of chocolate and a few other miscellaneous Items. Unfortunately for me, the molds were not the same size. Though I did not figure this out until I had already went through almost both bags of chocolate, wasting over half of my material on a mistake that could have been avoided if the molds were labeled with the correct size. I then went back into to cake stuff to discuss my concerns with the manager, as well as to purchase more items for my business. When it was my turn to ring up, I brought up my concern's with the employee that was handing my sale, and asked if we might speak to the manager. Upon discussing what had happened with the manager, she informed me that they do not label there products (even though the molds were labeled large on the shelf) and then said "what I would do is try your best to match up the right size molds," I then replied so there is nothing you can do about all the material I wasted due to the negligence of your employee? This is a store isn't it? Do you not keep track of your inventory and what you order? She replied "No we order in what we can from where ever we can, due to the high demand of products in our store." Then all 5 members of the staff stood behind the counter staring at me and my friend as if they did not know what to tell me. I then told them that this was very unprofessional, and continue to pay for my items. If this was not bad enough the "Manager" and 3 other women went in the corner behind the register and continued to look at me and my friend, and began to gossip right in front of us. This was very uncomfortable, and continued until we left the store, not to mention the store was packed with people who were also witnessing everything going on. I had purchased over $800.00 in material from cake stuff over the past month and the way I was treated was wrong and distasteful. I have purchased many cakes from artistic cakes in the past and was astonished to find out that they were owned by the same people. Needless to say I will not be back to this location and recommend future business owners to order online as it will save a lot of trouble and money in...
Read moreUpdate 08/19/23 ☆ Ive been coming here FOR YEARS! But have to say that I'm seriously disappointed in this store. I spend a great deal of money and drive from 127th and Greenwich clear across town to support a local small business. But now that they are "all sales final, no exchanges or returns" I will probably be switching to Amazon and save myself a lot of money. I can't get stuck with stuff I buy and then don't end up using for my cakes. Cant afford to be out the money, and I don't have the space to store it anyway. I just went out today to pick up an edible image for a cake I'm doing for Monday. Got out there, picked up my items and told the girl, "I need to pick up my edible image too..can't forget that I need it for Monday". She said yeah, I got it. I get the rest of my items and go to check out get all my stuff and she helps me carry it all out to my car and I leave. I get to Kellogg and Webb Rd and get a weird feeling...I call the store and ask if they put the image in the bag...she said "no, it's here on the counter." I said wait, what?! I'm clear back across town?! She said "sorry, it's here when you want to come get it" So I had to turn around and go all the way across town AGAIN, wasting more of my time and gas when it was THEIR SCREW UP and they didn't even ATTEMPT to make it right! So unfortunately, with this, I will be finding a different place for my cake needs...sad day. This used to be one of my happy places 😢 💔
2020 ☆☆☆☆☆ Love this place and it's staff. They have anything you might ever need for a cake, and if they don't have it if you give them a little bit of a heads up they can probably order it for you. My only complaint is that they need an East Side location. Having to drive clear across town to Central and Tyler when I need something...
Read moreVery disappointed that they have chosen to no longer wear masks or require customers wear masks. I no longer feel safe shopping here and will stop supporting them. They clearly do not value the health and safety of themselves, their customers, or their community!
EDIT: I care just as much, if not more, about the health and safety of others as I do my own. The science is very clear: consistent and proper mask usage helps prevent transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and saves lives.
Even beyond violating city and county ordinances, operating with a mask-optional policy is reckless. Such a policy puts at risk other customers who are taking precautions to prevent spread (as well as those who aren’t), and no individual experiences the same disease course. Many recover, many experience debilitating long-term effects, and many do not survive.
When I visited, four other customers were not wearing masks and conversing, and such factors significantly increase the rate of transmission via fomites, droplets, and aerosols. Not only was I at risk, but each one of these customers and the employees were also at risk. Why carry that risk when something as simple as a mask can drastically reduce it?
Ultimately, wearing a mask is not an infringement of civil liberties. Rather, it’s a sign of respect for the lives of others, and an incredibly small inconvenience for the massive benefit to...
