Save yourself headache and money and don't buy from Slumberland Furniture. My story is this:
I purchased one of their most expensive bedroom sets named the Canterbury Collection. Upon installation, I noticed one of the drawers on the under-bed would not shut properly. I didn't think much of it as they sent a store technician out to take care of it, and it seemed to be fixed. However, shortly after that, I noticed that the (hardwood) bed was squeaking and groaning a lot. The wooden bed frame decided to crack in half at this point. I should note that I am the only one that sleeps on this bed and I am of average size. This time they sent a technician from the warranty department out a few weeks after it happened. The technician stated that the delivery men had messed up and put the screws in too tight and that had caused the split in the wood. He said he would have to order a new part. Four-to-six weeks later, the technician comes back out to fix it and when he can't, he realizes that the delivery guys had wrongly installed the sides of the bed this time; they were on the wrong side (right was on left side and vice versa). No one had caught this the first couple of times they were out to fix the drawer. Now this was supposedly the problem the whole time. Another four-to-six weeks later, he comes back and the parts place had sent the wrong sides. Fast forward another four-to-six weeks and the technician comes out again and they sent the wrong sides again. That was this morning and the technician again stated he would order both sides and try again. I was fed up by this point since I've had the bed for eight months and it has been unusable for six of those. I called up the warranty department to request they just replace the entire bed since its been so messed up for so long. I'm afraid that it has been permanently damaged by laying on the wrong sides and also the drawer being jerry-rigged to fit in the wrong hole. And considering I paid thousands for it, I don't want a defective bed. Instead they blew my request off, saying that all they could do was put a note in the file stating that I would rather have a new one. This is completely unacceptable to me and it feels like they're being slow on purpose so that my warranty will run out and they will no longer have to fix their defective product. I know it is unlikely the situation will be resolved to my liking and I accept this as a lesson learned. But please save yourself the trouble of this experience and try another furniture store with a better return policy, warranty, and...
Read moreI had rated this place in October 5 stars but now am very disappointed with them. The furniture I ordered from them was damaged when packaging was removed. I called that same day and spoke with someone who said they would send a service tech to view the furniture and no one ever called back. I called maybe 6-7 times more within a 3 week period and I kept getting the run around. Finally someone called back I sent them pics of the furniture and they simply said it wasn't fixable that I could switch my furniture out with something else cause that set was discontinued and no longer being made!!!!!!!! I was so disappointed cause I love this set it fits perfectly in my living room they said I can get a different set or they could discount 200.00 off. It has a whole on ghe corner chaise and whole behind the back corner pillow area and I can see the wood from it!. I decided to keep it cause I really loved the color and set but now I go to ashley furniture and they have the same set out for sale I spoke to the manager and he said they are still being made that they aren't discontinued and that slumberland should be able to re order my set for me! I call slumberland on the last week of December and a manager by the name of Don or Ron said he'd look into it and I told him I'd return the 200 dollars as long as they would replace it and he said hed call me back the next day. It's been more than a week and I have heard nothing from them. Does anybody know who the district manager is? It's not fair that you think you're going to a professional business and pay them a good amount of money that you worked really hard for to purchase new undamaged furniture that should last you along time and you end up with this kind of...
Read moreRecently I went shopping for a dining room table. I shopped Ashley Furniture first, then went next door to Slumberland Furniture. The parking lot was empty, so I wondered if they were still open. As I approached the front door, trash was scattered about, and there were 3 Wichita Eagle newspapers still in their yellow plastic wrappers lying about in random spots at the front sidewalk. There were pebbles, cigarette butts and debris everywhere. The front landscaping had tall weeds and unkept mulch. I honestly thought the store was permanently closed. I tried the door and it was unlocked. I’m sad to say that the inside store was messy, too; carpets were untidy and much of the furniture was disorganized. I walked through the store and was not welcomed or even spoken to. I’ve purchased furniture here in the past that I still have and love, but I walked right out of the store with no intention of returning. What’s happened to you, Slumberland? Yes, you have construction going on next door, but that unwelcoming trash, newspapers & weedy landscaping is not their doing. Get a broom, and hire a landscaper before every shopper...
