I wanted to get a tattoo on Sunday and didn't have many options for a last-minute impulse. I did not catch the lady's name, but she was super friendly on the phone and told me they could squeeze me in last minute. Due to the circumstances, I was advised the tattoo I originally wanted would have to be appointment-booked, but I was not a local and was keen on getting ink. She did advise me another artist should be coming in shortly because he was at "lunch or something". Then they took my name and jotted it down at the end of the list. I left to visit a store across the street to pass the time and when I returned the other artist was there and I asked him if he could tell me where I stood on the wait list. He politely informed me to give him a minute as he finished what he was doing and then asked what I was planning on getting. I responded by telling him I wrote on the list my original idea, but the lady had advised me she could not do that tattoo today, so he asked to see it. I pulled my phone out and showed him the design and he told me "That is a today tattoo", then I proceeded to get my hopes up because I now thought I was going to get the tattoo I desired. He proceeded to the back to tattoo the people on the list ahead of me and I sat twiddling my thumbs anxiously. The lady, whom I originally spoke to, finished up her tattoo that she had started when I had first arrived and came out and asked if I was ready to do the small design I had to choose due to her availability. I responded saying the other artist had informed me that he could do the tattoo today. She hesitated and glanced at me funny and restated that the tattoo would have to be appointment-booked. I tried to inform her of the little chat I had with the other artist and proceeded to tell her to ask him. She leaves to the back and discusses with the other artist behind a curtain where he continues to disregard the conversation we had ever existed. He told her that was not what I told her and "she must have misunderstood me, I NEVER said that"; she returned to relay that information to me. Tension starts to rise because I know that I did not hallucinate an entire conversation with this guy, but now he acts like the interaction we had never happened, and that he thought I was talking about another day's tattoo. Why would I ask about my position on the walk-in paper if I was asking about another day? He clearly stated "That is a today tattoo, Yeah that can be done today" I asked him multiple times as my hopes rose and he assured me. He denied it and then raised his voice to argue with me across the room leaving me feel unsafe in the environment and feeling like the entire room was against me because it was his word over mine.
Fine, I still wanted to get inked, so I turned to the girl artist and asked her if she could still do the wording I had settled for and then add something to it. She started to deny it and said she could only tattoo the two words on me. "Inhale.Exhale" I asked her how much it would be and she said 100-150, and I said okay so 100? or 150? and she said it was between there and she wouldn't know yet, the shop minimum is 100$. The tattoo took about 20 minutes to complete and I was charged 130$. It is entirely line work as she stated "black saturation will need to be appointment-booked" Even though I am thankful for the tattoo, the experience was not great. Being informed they could do a tattoo today to wait 5 hours to be yelled at because of a misunderstanding was not the best way to spend my day, followed by begging to get the desired tattoo I wanted, which was an additional line design that took no more than 5minutes to add on.
I settled for a small cute line design that did not take long, and even though I had to beg for an extra feature, she eventually worked with me to achieve a desired tattoo. We did have a good heart-to-heart and apologized for the misunderstanding and tensions I do understand how last minute the tattoo was. I do appreciate getting inked, and the line work...
Read moreI had a fantastic experience today getting a tattoo in honor of my best friend of 18 years who has unfortunately recently passed from suicide. I called the shop after her service asking if they had any available walk-in time because I just had to get it done immediately. The other shops I called couldn’t get me in until October the soonest! Makayla answered the phone and was friendly from the beginning. She let me know she could get me in after a scheduled appointment she had coming up and to text her a picture of what I wanted. She then gave me an ETA for when she would possibly be ready for me to come in, but said she’d text me to give me a heads up (I live about 20 minutes from the shop) After texting her a picture of what I wanted, she acknowledged it and then kept in constant communication until she was ready for me to head her way. Her scheduled appointment went longer than she told me originally, which was not AT ALL a problem, but I want to point out that she updated me each chance she got, and it didn’t pass the original ETA she gave me. I will admit, I was nervous going in there. Especially the day of the service, but I’m glad I did. Makayla made me feel so welcomed. Even though I came across a little standoffish when she asked about my day.(I’m sorry I didn’t want to cry 😭) Her overall vibe just helped me quickly turn mine around. I can’t thank her enough for the experience she gave me today, even though it was short. It meant so much. I can’t wait to come back to your shop and hopefully meet the rest of the team! They don’t come as cool as she does if the atmosphere isn’t...
Read moreAfter a 5-year hiatus from tattoos, I decided it was time for a new one. I stumbled across Tezca one day and went in to see what it was about. First impression? The shop is CLEAN, the music was at a reasonable volume, and Hunter came to the counter immediately. She gave me a solid quote for the work I wanted, told me how to look at the artist's portfolios, and how to book when I was ready. There was ZERO pressure to book and no game-playing with the quote.
I paid the deposit, booked my appointment, and my friend and I got our tattoos today. All I can say is WOW!!! Everything - literally everything - was outstanding! Hunter was on time, focused, funny, patient, explained everything, and her work is phenomenal. I had always gone to the same artist, and decided it was time to try someone new. I am SO GLAD I did. She made sure that I was happy with the design, the placement, and that I was comfortable before getting started.
It was so refreshing to go to a shop where you feel valued as a customer. I never felt like I was an inconvenience or annoying. I will be recommending Tezca (and Hunter) to anyone who is in the market for a tattoo....
