Read moreI frequent this store often and spend a good amount of money but after today, I will never return and am extremely disappointed to know this is how they treat customers who support them. I picked up a cute storage ottoman off the middle of their floor that had a price tag clearly labeled “ottoman” for $15. I took it up front to hold while I finished my shopping, as I had my 3 year old with me and couldn’t carry it around with me. When I returned to pay, I was told that the ottoman actually cost $118 and it was tagged incorrectly. Umm excuse me?! I told them that sounded like that was their mistake and problem and I couldn’t believe they wouldn’t just honor the price that was on the tag. I was then told the ottoman was part of an all new furniture purchase they had just made and they bought it for a lot more than that - again, sounds like their problem, not mine. Not to mention this ottoman was a cheap, Chinese made, Target brand ottoman that no one in their right mind would pay $118 for so I’m not sure why they think they can sell something at that cost like they are the same as a big box store. Needless to say, I grabbed my child and left without purchasing anything else I had planned on. Never have I ever heard of a store not honoring the price on THEIR tag and then trying to tell the customer it actually costs $100 more. Most decent companies would accommodate the customer even if they had to eat it. Oh, they also tried to tell me someone may have switched the tag with another item. This was 11am in the morning and it clearly said on the tag it was put out on the floor on today’s date (9/2). Why would anyone take a tag marked $118 and switch it with a $15 tag?! Clearly the mistake was on their end and they just couldn’t admit it or make it right. Shame on you. You...
Read moreThe Williamsburg Restore has expanded at least 2 times at their current location and continues to fill up with a hoard of overpriced mostly-used merchandise. For example, on 3/7 I found that they have at least 10 vacuum cleaners for sale in the store. I believe the management of this store has completely missed the point of the donation-based thrift store which is intended to turn peoples' gifts of used items into cash which can be used to benefit some worthy cause. As a side benefit, those of limited means who regularly shop for used merchandise out of financial necessity receive much needed aid as well - its win-win. Unfortunately, rather than facilitating this process by having reasonable prices / high sales volume, the management has chosen to try to extract the absolute maximum profit from each item. The result is a continuously ballooning inventory, one which contains thousands of useful items that sit there day after day because they are simply too expensive. The people who donated those items did so to with the desire to help the Habitat for Humanity. Items piling up in an ever-expanding warehouse-sized store are not...
