Today was my first time going to the Williamsburg Salt Spa and my first ever time going to any sort of spa. I booked the body renewal package a couple weeks ago and had filled out all the required paperwork and watched the videos for the sauna and the float tank. When I arrived at the spa I was told that I was only booked for the salt cave. They saw my paperwork in the system for the other services but never booked my complete package, only booked me for the salt cave. They didn’t have any room for the other services to accommodate me today and fix their mistake. They allowed me to go into the salt cave for that session while they spoke to the manager. I couldn’t even relax in the salt cave because I was upset about this mistake that never should have happened.
When the salt cave session ended the manager never even apologized or spoke to me. The lady at the front just told me that I could be refunded for the salt cave or I could come back for the other two services a different day. I live over an hour away and this was a treat to myself for my birthday so I saw no point in having to drive all the way here again for a mistake that should not have happened. I understand mistakes happen but they should have left room in their schedule to accommodate mistakes instead of telling the customer to come back another time. I had planned on purchasing some gifts from their gift shop as well, and making this an annual treat for myself as long as I enjoyed the experience. Obviously this business does not care about their customers even when they are at fault. Had they offered me a significant discount for my package if I rebooked then I may have considered rescheduling. This was a day I have been looking forward to for awhile now and unfortunately was a horrible experience for me. I don’t recommend coming to this spa unless you check numerous times to make sure they have you booked correctly. Very...
Read moreMy friend and I did the Ultimate Salt Spa Experience and we really enjoyed it! I wanted to give this 5 star review to the massage therapist I had, Marissa. I have had several massages and I felt she gave one of the best massages I have had! So shout out to Marissa! Go see her!
Regarding the rest of the spa experience, I liked each service provided, however, if I could change anything to improve the experience, I would have a locker room area that is accessible for customers to change/shower/and get ready after their day at the spa. There is a tiny area to get ready after the soak tank, but your time is very limited and then you go into a massage next and can’t return to that area due to appointments after you. I don’t think many people would want to get dressed or get ready right before a massage, so there should be an area available for people AFTER their spa day is complete. People may be visiting from out of town, have plans to go to lunch, or other plans after the spa where it would be nice to be able to put yourself together after this amazing spa day! We had to change in the (one) single person bathroom and do our make up and hair in our cars. I would definitely go back to the Williamsburg Salt Spa, but I think they could enhance their clients’ experience...
Read moreI strongly do not recommend the Williamsburg Salt Spa to anyone. This salt spa has been operated unethically, and there has been very little regard for the customers' wellbeing. The owner has been concerned only with lining their own pockets at the expense of both customers and staff.
The front-desk staff (and management), while friendly to customers, have been thoroughly terrified of the owner, as they have been micromanaged, treated like slaves, and exploited (which has been historically in alignment with Williamsburg's traumatic past).
The talented massage therapists at the salt spa have been grossly underpaid, below market rate of any other spa establishment, and treated as if they are disposable. They have been pressured to work without breaks, as the owner has been primarily concerned with volume rather than quality.
The environment has been both physically and emotionally unsafe. As a global leader in public health, I have even questioned the sanitation practices in the spa, as salt caves require tremendous cleansing between clients, which I did not observe. This establishment was both a sanitation hazard and a general health hazard. May Williamsburg Salt Spa be...
