I really wanted to like this store and I’ve given it several attempts however every time I go in I am reminded that this store is extremely unethical and overpriced. On more than one occasion I have gone into the store and noticed some of the designer items being sold are counterfeit. I professionally authenticate items and can easily spot a fake. I tried to tell the person working and instead of offering to look into the matter I was met with hostility and told I was wrong (I can assure you I wasn’t as they were badly done fakes, whoever bought the counterfeit Cartier ring should really ask for a refund). I overheard a conversation several months later as I was giving the store another shot where the person working explained they authenticate their bags “great what a welcome change of pace” I thought however she continued speaking and mentioned that they do not authenticate the items of people who have been consigning with them from the beginning. It suddenly made perfect sense while sometimes these items are counterfeit, they are trusting that the person is selling them a real item, however the person themselves may not even know their item is fake. On top of that these consigned pieces are going for way more than they would in the resell market. I even tried to justify that, “this is Williamsburg, people just don’t know better so the owners are able to upcharge and no one is any wiser” who doesn’t love capitalism? The straw the finally broke the camels back was my most recent visit, I was going through non designer items for the first time and noticed they seemed to be a little over priced. It wasn’t until I found a dress new with tags that I liked that I decided to look it up on the stores website, they were selling the dress for $30 more than you could buy brand new on the website! It took me less than 5 seconds to do a Google image search and find the item. In what world are we selling a $50 dress straight from the manufacturer for $80 at a consignment store? I started digging deeper into their clothing and found this the case in many of the items I looked at. I understand designer goods sometimes have higher resell values however we aren’t talking anything fancy here. So if you want to buy a used lululemon sports bra for more than they sell in stores and purchase a counterfeit designer bag for thousands this is the...
Read moreBe careful, some nice used items but. Last time I was there they charged me TAX ON A GIFT CARD. Then when my wife used it they tried to charge tax on the items. I had the receipt and showed them so they quickly took it off. Seemed sus to me. But we went back. And this time…. if your a guy with your wife don’t bother to go close to the dressing rooms. There is a side room with bags and other items for sale with private dressing rooms that have curtains. I went in to see some of the merchandise and to wait for my wife to try on clothing and come out and show me. One worker raised her voice at me saying this is a lady’s dressing room and that I could not be there. Then she walked to her coworker as I walked out and she stated “well that was tough” not sure what that was supposed to mean. So I waited out by the front door and told my wife I was ready to go and we went somewhere else. There where No signs on the room to the dressing room to say no guys allowed. No way for anyone to see anyone changing as there were dressing rooms inside the so called dressing room. And then no way to look at the additional merchandise there either as I did see a bag I was going to buy my daughter. But there loss. We...
Read moreI went in with work clothes, so I was immediately met with attitude when asked about how to consign some clothing here. The old woman condescendingly described what "high-end" clothes were to me and basically assumed I would bring things that belonged in a Goodwill.... I then proceeded to tell her in French that I have a Parisienne family and am very aware of what Haute Couture is vs. Off the rack clothing. BTW, "A New Day" label that she had plenty of in the store to sell is from Target, so they need a class in fashion. Also, much of what is there is really old and overpriced. I do not...
