Giant Eagle Supermarket — Local services in Willoughby

Clearly giant eagle fails to care about their customers. Not sure who’s in the planning department, but removing most of your registers during business hours seems like a bad business move. I use the store to grab items when I’m in a rush. Today I run into the store to grab things, and the electricians have pulled out the machines during the after work hour and the lines in the grocery store are super long. How inconvenient, why would you schedule electricians to come and yank out half of your cash register during business hours. Most companies would allow This type of work to be done after hours. I left a whole cart of groceries sitting right there. I don’t have time for nonsense and shenanigans when I am shopping after work. The store gets a three because the staff is so great. Over the last few months I’ve come in to purchase chicken and I can’t find anything but chicken breast. I would say one time is a fluke but multiple times over multiple instances and it’s an inventory issue. My next issue, is giant eagle’s prices have continuously risen and it is unaffordable at this point to shop at this store. I used to frequent giant eagle on a weekly basis but I have stopped doing so because the prices are not great and their awards program has diminished. I also have taken notice that they raise the price of an item and then put it on sale to make it seem as though you’re getting a discount but you’re really getting it at the same price. Prime examples of this is their family packs of chicken breasts, which only includes three pieces of chicken breasts for $12 and then the market buy one get one free. However, if you’ve been in the store the week before that same price was lower. Not to mention you can go to Aldi or Walmart and get a family pack of chicken breast that has about six or seven pieces of chicken breast for the same price of the three at giant eagle. Raising the prices and making people thinking they are getting a deal is not cool, I’m sure that’s a corporate...

We went through the self checkout because the lines were too long. Weighed our 2 items and the price showed as $5 and some change but the light begins to flash (item didn’t go through the system). So Jeannie (I’m unsure if this is the spelling) walks over and says put the item on the scale. I put one down and she says put them all down. I complied. The total is now $6 and some change. I said (jokingly) I think the price changed and she replied I’m not going to argue with you...(wait for it). I said excuse me and she actually repeated what she said. I asked my husband to please pay for the items and I went to customer service. Asked the lady upfront who was a sweetheart until she called the manager and then ran over to ask Jeannie what happened and she tells this ridiculous version in front of my husband. I spoke with the manager and she was friendly but I don’t know if anything happened to Jeannie. The end result is that by the time my husband paid for the items they had gone up to over $7 and some change (with Jeannie weighing them) as well as I still feel that this is one of thee most racist Giant Eagle stores near me. It was Black Friday and I’m sure most of the workers were tired, except Jeannie was happy as ever before she had to help us. Today I stopped in the bakery they had one day sale on brownies for .99cents. Since I couldn't find them where a big sign was and they had pretzels there. I asked a bakery girl working near by. She was restacking cookies. She told me she didn't know and told me to find someone else who worked there. I asked if she worked in bakery and she said yes, but she was busy. I didn't see her name tag, so I asked her name. She didn't want to give me her name. I said where's your name tag, again. She ignored me. So I said I know you're suppose to have your name tag. She finally unzipped her jacket and showed her name tag. So I said Tamara if you don't know the answer can you find out if you have brownies or not? She just walked away. I walked over to the counter where two workers were chatting away and ignoring me.I finally got their attention, and was told they didn't have anymore, but will have them tomorrow on BOGO. So much for one day sale, out of product before noon. Don't advertise something you can't...
