i love this antique mall, since moving to wilmington, i have been here many times and spent plenty of money here. i am writing this review because i have found multiple pieces of racist/nazi memorabilia for sale in multiple different vendors at this store. today, my mom and i found a pincushion shaped like a black person on all fours for $40, and five feet away from it in a separate booth, they were selling an original nazi dagger for $500+(pictures below). of all of the horrible memorabilia that i have seen for sale in small appalachian/southern thrift stores, that pincushion was by far the most disgusting and disturbing thing i have ever seen for sale. when we approached the employee who was working about these items, she tried to assure us that the owner was not racist because her husband is black, and that these items are âa regrettable part of history that some âinterestingâ collectors typically like to buyâ. my question is, if these items are a part of history, shouldnât they be donated to a museum to teach future generations that this was not acceptable? yet instead, the establishment would rather sell them to people who only buy them because they align with the views of the person who crafted them. to sell something so explicitly disgusting that symbolizes the worst parts of human history for a profit is always going to feel weird to me, and it should feel weird to the owner, employees, and any person who knows history. as a customer, i urge the establishment to ban these items from being sold at their store, and encourage their vendors to donate them to a history museum where they rightfully belong. selling these things and trying to justify it, is always going to come off wrong and paint the store in...
Read moreWas looking for specific items and called Flea Bodyâs about them. I was given information and invited to visit. Arrived, with my request, and was immediately helped. Tim was excellent. I decided to shop more. Iâve been around the vintage market since the 1980âs and been a part of antique/collectible co-ops. Flea Bodyâs is without doubt one of the best and most interesting Iâve ever seen. I spent an hour and a half looking around. I discovered a beautiful piece of American Indian pottery, and bought it. I asked if they had bubble wrap. Tim proceeded to carefully wrap the new found treasure in bubble wrap. Not only wrap it but, put it in a box also! Just exceptional service. Iâve bought a couple other things there in the past as well. I love this co-op and highly recommend a visit. You will not leave empty handed. Thank you for the...
Read moreWe loved our visit! We drove in from Goldsboro. We were rather confused at some of the reviews here saying prices were high. We found this place to be one of the most affordable and fairly priced antique malls we have been to. And honestlyâŚif you want nice vintage/antiquesâŚyou should expect to pay the appropriate prices for desirable items. The prices we saw were fair and right on point. This is not a thrift store. Thereâs very nice things here in a nicely curated marketplace. Thereâs also almost always someone else who is happy to pay the price that you donât agree with. We took home some nice pieces from here. The booths were attractive and very well put together. The vendors have done a wonderful job on their booths. PS: we loved your 4 legged...
