A couple weeks back I brought my two sons to see the movie Five Nights at Freddy. We decided to go to this theater for the first time.
We arrived at the theater the same time the movie was to start. Parking was easy to find and I found the employees in the theater to be friendly.
They were fast. We were able to get our pre-purchased tickets scanned, purchase two large buckets of popcorn, two smoothies and a large drink in a matter of minutes.
I wasn't expecting the theater to be anything compared to larger cities, but the leg space definitely made things uncomfortable for me. It certainly is not designed for taller people.
We went to an afternoon showing of the movie. I expected to see the normal 5 to 8 movie previews and trailers to be shown before the movie. That amount is pretty customary in my years and years of going to the theater. Maybe a couple more for afternoon movies.
What I did not expect was to sit there for endless preview after preview. Between the cramp seating and the endless previews I was about to lose by my mind. The popcorn was basically finished before the beginning credits rolled for this film. I had never witnessed anything like. We sat there through 50 minutes of previews!!
Ultimately, the boys like the movie. I can't say it was my worst movie experience ever and I don't know if that's normal for this theater's afternoon movies. Regardless, I'd rather...
Read moreI feel I'm being too nice giving them a 3. In the past 3 weeks I've been to the theater & with each movie all the lights are left on including the cleaning lights. My husband had to go tell them this past time & previously another movie goer went to tell them which means both of them missed a little of the beginning of the movie & of course the movie doesn't have the same effect when the lights are on. Also when the movie is no longer playing we're walking out in the dark bc from what the manager said the timer wasn't set right but as far as the cleaning lights they're supposed to be turned off by the last person leaving out from cleaning. I also noticed while the cleaning lights were on how nasty the seats are. Made me feel uncomfortable bc all I could wonder is if there are bedbugs in the seats also? Can't help but think that when you see how nasty the seats are & the smell the theaters have. To me it smells like a moldy musky odor. 🤮I don't think they've done a deep cleaning since the building was built & they need to. It isn't like they're not making the money especially with the expensive drinks, popcorn. snacks, etc....We did talk to an asst asset manager after the movie & she did compensate us with 4 free tickets & said we could use it at any AMC theater, which was very nice of her. #AMCTHEATER #wilsonnc...
Read moreFirst full theater since the pandemic began! Spiderman opening night. Actually had to wait in line for snacks, and had to take seats on the sides to get 4 together (2x2) and it was fantastic!
People clapping, laughing, silent..so great to experience movies collectively again. Theater was a bit warm...maybe they aren't used to cranking the AC for a full house lol (plus it's warm for December).
Pretzel bites were tasty and plentiful.
Update 5/31/22: Have been to several movies since last posting. Nothing changed dramatically, but saw new Dr. Strange in Theater 7 during opening weekend and the theater experience itself kinda sucked. Smaller theater, which is fine, but picture quality was dim and sound was terrible...sounded like they hooked up a couple old school Hifi speakers in the front, I get better sound from my home sound bar. Pretty sure may just be that theater.
Saw TG-Mav this past weekend in theater 6 (large digital format theater) and it was great! Booming surround sound, crisp bright picture. Don't bother calling ahead to see what theater a show is playing in, they wont tell you for security reasons (which, while unfortunate in this day, I guess I understand).
Still highly recommend going to a theater for movies you REALLY care about seeing. The big screen experience is still...
