Went there not too long ago and was encouraged by the owner that all the fish are properly medicated and monitored before being available for purchase. Got a seemingly perfect freshwater Avocado Puffer, but disappointingly that was not the case. Noticed something funny on our newly named puffer “Charlie” that night - a whitish spot near his fins. My husband and I didn’t think much of it being he was swimming perfectly fine and eager to eat. Within the next 24 hours this “spot” spread around his entire body and now over his gills and mouth. Come to find out he has a fungal infection, Saprolegnia. This has since also affected one of the other puffers we purchased from the same store, a beautiful Dragon. We’ve now separated the two of them into a QT but the outcome does not look good being most cases always result in fatality. We are doing our best with proper medications but will most definitely never be returning to this store again. We’ve traveled around the east coast and bought many different species of freshwater puffers, “oddball” fish (such as eels, ghost knifes, wolffish, flag fish to name a few) as well as many different saltwater fish (clown triggers, lion fish, rabbitfish, tangs, angels etc) and NEVER had an outcome as disappointing as this one. In all of our 11 fish tanks we’ve been very fortunate in very little fish loss/infections. Our fish are our babies; to have these two Puffers so poorly taken care of resulting in suffering is absolutely disgusting to...
Read moreIf you are buying fish from this store, be extremely cautious. Purchased an angel fish from there that had camallanus worms (one of the worst parasites you can have in your aquarium). The fish had the worms when purchased, but we were unfortunately beginners and did not notice the red spikes sticking out of it. This lead to hundreds of dollars lost, between losing almost all of our fish, every single plant, and 4 different types of medicines to try and eradicate these worms. Not to mention the time and energy spent trying to fix this problem. This was an absolute nightmare that went on for months, eventually having to restart our entire tank. After bringing this to the store’s attention, they were STILL selling angelfish with these worms obviously sticking out of them. I know that there is no guarantee with livestock, but these fish are in the tanks with the worms clearly visible. I just don’t want this to happen to...
Read moreWith out a doubt the best fish store I have been too! Went there not anticipating too much due to the size but I was dead wrong. This place has some of the coolest freshwater fish I’ve seen in a long time. They have the biggest selection I have seen yet. I used to drive an hour and a half too “That Fish Place” in Lancaster that is nearly 10 times the size with half the selection. Enough about the fish the best part about this store was the staff. The gentleman who owned it was extremely informative and knowledgeable. He had no problem walking me around showing me different fish I didn’t even know about. Every question I had was answered honestly and explained well. Not to mention he was just an all round cool guy to chat with. This is the only fish store I will be going too it’s local and family owned with the best selection and by far the best employees. If I could give it more...
