It is very sad what has happened to our family’s favorite butcher shop. Rogers meats and Bloedows Donuts to me represented Winona, a staple that ment I was home..I would come from Rochester just to get both.. Now!! I live back in Winona. Went into Rogers a while back and was horrified…All of meat cases were empty except for about a few dozen hotdogs??!! I asked (the owner) to just wrap up what was left. The response was I could not buy all of them…he had to remain open for the rest of the day. Wow..I did not know what to say. He counted the hotdogs in the case and allowed me to buy 6 of them… the hours they are open fluctuate based the owners discretion, not community needs, or supply and demand.. Bad work ethicsś,and Customer suport..Still good...

I have been going there myself since i was a child. The son and wife that now run it have always had a scowl on their face. They would complain that we were buying to much. Unfortunately it is a one-man operation now and he has been having some medical/physical issues. It is tough to be a small old fashioned business man today. Roger smokes his meats once a week. Small batches of his family recipes with less fat than any others I have tried. He will only sell you a small amounts to keep enough on hand for his regular customers. Hours are sporadic.
