Sonia Emporium — Local services in Woodbridge Township

My fiance and I went here on January 20, 2018 and purchased $225 worth of synthetic garlands for our wedding. The owner Sonia told us she would order the quantity from India and asked when we would pick up. We told her March 15, allowing 2 months for the order to come in. Around March 15, we called the store but no one answered. When we finally got in touch, Sonia told us that 20 of 27 pieces were unavailable, not in stock in India. We were never notified of this, even though they had our phone number. My fiance told her to text photos of which garlands she did have, they never did. He drove to the store on 3/25 (we live in Queens BTW) to pick up what she did have. He gets there, and Sonia tells him "I didn't know you were coming, I don't have the garlands at the store"... ??? Why would you not have items a customer ordered AT your store? He asked her for a refund, she said she could not issue the refund without my card (I was out of state on a trip, my fiance had photos of my card and ID). This is incorrect because I have the same credit card machine at my job as Sonia, and we manually key in and refund customers as needed. Due to their lack of cooperation and failure to provide us with what we ordered, I filed a formal dispute with my credit card (GOOD thing I did not pay in cash for this!). I would never recommend this place to even my enemy, what a nightmare. We have a few weeks left to our wedding and now need to scramble to find 30 garlands locally. One star is too many, and I want to warn people about Sonia.

They are violent and dishonest scam artists. Sonia and Raj are both very aggressive - shouting in your face until you buy things. They guaranteed and assured multiple times we could return the pooja item we considered, so we purchased it.

We realized we didn’t need it and tried to return it an hour later. Additionally, they lied about the market price of silver and charged 4 times what it should be.

They denied what they said, insisting that we shouldn’t have bought it in the first place. Raj even told me to record him saying the policy. As he asked, I recorded him repeating the policy and he got so enraged that he tried to hit me.

The combination of dishonesty, rudeness, and unfair pricing is unconscionable. Poojas are meant to celebrate special occasions, and dealing with scumbag swindlers like this will ruin...

Have passsed by this store many times , but never went in. Wanted to check few things for my house pooja. Fantastic location.. right on oak treee road . Parking is limited and tough to get in peak hours . There are other emporiums close by ..

On a first look , their products are much expensive than India sajawat and other stores. They have very less quantities of products . Very less options to choose from. They don’t put prices on any of their products . You have to call them and ask price for each product u want to buy… a small photo frame with Ganesha picture (say) costs about 11$ which is half priced in other shops.
