I called an ambulance for my fiance because he was vomiting and blacking out from kidney stone pain. From nearly the moment we arrived at Underwood, they kept pushing him for a procedure that he didn't need, before even having the results of a CT. They would wake him up and shoving a consent form under his nose to try and get him to sign while doped up on pain medication and groggy. He just needed pain management while the stones passed and our urologist stated as much. Underwood wanted to operate even though he didn't have a blockage, just sever pain as the stones were moving.
He was admitted and the next morning I made the mistake of going to work instead of staying at the hospital with him. He began to have chest pain. He called the nurse and she told him there was nothing they could do for chest pain because he was a urology patient! The nurse said all they could do was call the urology office and let them know. He asked what they would do if he was in cardiac trouble and dropped dead on the floor? The nurse just shrugged and was sarcastically said then they “would have to call someone else”.
When I finally arrived at the hospital my fiance was in horrible pain and not able to take a deep breath. Fortunately, after trying to get him to drink something, we (not the staff) figured out that it was acid reflux. We later found out that it was caused by one of the medications and made worse by laying down. But by this point, after hours of going untreated, his esophagus was so burned that he couldn't even swallow water. A tech finally came in with an EKG machine and I commented that it took them long enough to address his chest pain and the tech, very confused, asked “He's having chest pain? This is just prep for his operation.” We never agreed to the operation and they already have him on the schedule!
I asked for the charge nurse and his room nurse became very sarcastic and told me they “didn't have one” and even if they did, she'd “tell me the same thing”. No charge nurse? I told her that I was going to have my fiance transferred and she is not to bother him with the operation consent form again. A short time later, I left the room for just a couple of minutes to speak with his mother privately, and sure enough the nurse went right after him with that form again. We told her to get out of the room. I started packing his things and was ready to sign him out AMA when his urology doctor finally arrived.
The doctor seemed puzzled as to why my fiance was scheduled for an unnecessary operation at 2pm the next day. And when we relayed the above story to him, he told us that he had ordered that my fiance be given acid reflux medication every day since starting the pain medication. We told him my fiance had not received any. He gave my fiance a script for pain medicine and said he could go home. Surgery was not needed and he will need to take Omeprazole to prevent further acid reflux.
I am going to writing the administration. I will never allow a loved one to go to Underwood again. Their name sounds like a funeral home and with...
Read moreI just recently (almost) had my baby here, but she decided to make her big debut in the back of the ambulance on the way from our house after my water broke, & being in labor at home un assisted. We live in paulsboro, & weren't even 5 minutes from our house, & they had to pull over on the side of the road on Delaware street, so needless to say gabrielle was born outside of paulsboro high school at 7:04 a.m August 8th. I must say, from the 5 strange guys who took care of me in the ambulance, to delivering my baby, to letting me hold their hand, to coaching me through given the circumstances it was wonderful!! They were wonderful. Especially being a woman in my position 5 strange men lol with everything hanging out they really made me feel comfortable. I just moved here from Pennsylvania, & I love inspira. The nurses on the maternity ward were all so wonderful, kind, caring, and very sweet. Even the house keeper, and the woman who brings you you're food everyone was wonderful ♡♡ I've never had such a wonderful experience delivering my other children in pa at Delaware county memorial hospital, as I did with inspira. I'm not sure why they have some negative reviews, but maybe it's just the ppl. Because me, my fiance, & baby all had such a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend having your baby here at inspira. Thank you to all the lovely nurses, staff, & doctor's who cared for me and my baby. God bless you all, you're all angels, & the men who came to my house to pick me up and delivered our baby you guys are still my heroes. Thank...
Read moreI wish I could give 0 stars. It is very clear that Inspira does not care about it’s patients or their well-being. I spoke with a therapist because I was battling depression and let me say, it would’ve been easier and more effective to just sit and spiral into my depression than deal with this sad excuse of a medical office. The thousands of dollars accumulated for subpar therapy sessions with a therapist who didn’t seem to be engaged or even pretend to care was not worth it. I could’ve had more effective and helpful conversations with a wet napkin. This office also forgot to mention that my insurance didn’t cover these sessions (how convenient)! Then when I finally decided to end the sessions because I couldn’t deal with such a terrible therapist they decided to slap me in the face with thousands of dollars in medical bills, then offer no assistance, 0 help and even gave me an attitude for inquiring about more information. At the beginning of the pandemic I was isolated, depressed and miserable. A year and a half later I feel a million times worse and it’s all thanks to the folks at the Inspira Medical Center Woodbury location :)! So if you want to be taken advantage of, have your time and money wasted, and have your situation become exponentially worse, then call today and set up an appointment ASAP I don’t know how anyone there sleeps at night knowing that your office is intentionally exploiting people who are going through things, but silly me for expecting anyone working in the medical field to have an ounce of...
