I usually don’t take the time to write long reviews. As you can see by the attached photo, their decal and tag holder with their branding were tossed in the trash, here’s why:
We purchased a 2023 Jeep Cherokee on August 23rd. At first, everything seemed fine, except for a nick on the door that they agreed to fix. When I was called to bring the car in for that repair on September 10th, the check engine light came on the day before. I immediately let them know because we had only had the car for a little less than two weeks, and this was not what I expected from a dealership that claims to put every vehicle through a 100+ point inspection.
The vehicle was left with them on the 10th, and by the 16th we were told to pick it up. That same night, we drove an hour, picked it up after 8 PM, and within five miles the check engine light came back on. I turned around and left it in their parking lot that same night, with the keys in the drop box.
I emailed the salesperson to let him know. The next call I got was an unclear explanation I was told the light wasn’t on and then told I’d have to pay for the repair. Imagine buying a car, being reassured about “quality inspections,” and less than a month later being asked to pay to fix a major issue. I declined to pay, and later I was told they would take care of it.
It then sat in their shop for almost two weeks. I was told parts would arrive Tuesday or Wednesday, but no one ever updated me. By Friday, I had to call myself. I tried to contact the GM but only reached his voicemail (at this point I had already sent him an email, which he never responded to). Then, suddenly, 10 minutes later I got a call back saying the car was ready.
So, was my vehicle fixed in under 10 minutes, or was it sitting in their parking lot while no one thought it was important to inform me? At this point, my disappointment level was very high because they had promised it earlier in the week.
I’ve bought vehicles before and never had this kind of experience. In fact, I’ve had cars go months and years without an issue. Once in the past, I was sold a vehicle from a different dealer with a cleared check engine light, and I honestly don’t want to believe that’s what happened here — but the lack of transparency makes it hard not to think that way.
The frustrating part is not just the mechanical issue, but the way communication was handled. If I hadn’t called and left a voicemail for the GM, who knows when I would have been told the car was ready. Customers drive an hour to trust this dealership, and the least you should expect is honest communication and accountability.
Buying a vehicle is supposed to bring peace of mind, not this level of stress and doubt. For me, this experience has raised serious questions about how much Kunes truly values their customers after the sale. Pre-Sale ...
Read moreWe just purchased a used Ram 2023 1500 Classic SLT yesterday Saturday 10/18 and as I am reading through the reviews I am honestly surprised to see good reviews, we must have came in on a bad day because our experience was horrible!
I would love to write a very detailed review regarding our experience but it would be too long. So I’m going to do my best to make a long story short. First of all Dishonesty, considering they are a “Christian” organization during the 7 long hours we were there I heard 3 very disappointed customers that day and just like us were lured to come in with FALSE ADVERTISING on their fresh start program, dishonest about what we could take home, our sales guy kept saying this is all we have in stock that would match what we “qualified” for and after we said no kept pulling out more cars, tried to get us on a $800 monthly payment with $1700 down for a used mid conditioned car after this program says little or no money down required. After hours of negotiation they were able to bring down the monthly payments but still required $500 down payment. The paint job on the truck is horrible, the paint in back is chipping and we were also told by our sales rep Jose that we would get a new tire as one of the back tire was very worn out and we did not get that tire replaced, yet they consider this a “great deal.”
Second our sales rep Jose was NOT UNDERSTANDING at all about our financial situation and pushed DESPERATELY (not good look at all for any dealer) for us to buy the car after we explained over and over again we had a budget and that we did not come in with an expectation of buying a car but simply to get more info on their fresh start program. So when our final answer was no Jose’s reply was something like this “we just lost a lot of money and time for you guys not to make the purchase” RIDICULOUS because that is your job as sales person! The way he carried the sales at the end was very unprofessional and tried to make us feel guilty for not wanting to pull through with the purchase. Luckily another sales rep Nick was there and was able to help out and we ended up somewhat around our budget even though we were still a bit over. The end of our purchase is what made it worse we were very disappointed with the customer service so my husband and I are considering returning the car as we were told by Jose we have 3 day time frame to return vehicle.
Would I recommend Kunes Woodstock...
Read moreI have to change my review drastically from 5 stars to 1 star! I went to this dealership ONLY because the salesman named Chase convinced me to “Come on in I already have you pre-approved with 2 banks”! So when I get there I reiterate that I have no co-signer and no guarantor! I got the usual not a problem speech which turned into a major problem! So after sitting around the first hour which turned into many hour's I wanted my car key back I got a very uneasy feeling (should of listened to it) so needless to say I stuck it out because Chase talked me in to staying! So, bottom line is I ended up talking my former husband who I just happen to live with and is a DISABLED VETERAN! They knew that this purchase was for me NOT him! So, we head to my house with my car followed by the Jeep shown above driven by Chase! This entire time I’m under the impression I am buying and my former husband is ONLY CO-SIGNING, THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN! We get back to my house and Chase ends up talking my former husband into signing the papers outside in extremely low lighting! He is a DISABLED VETERAN WHO IS BLIND IN HIS RIGHT EYE. He is also deaf in his right ear so he starts signing and begins to wonder where my name is on this paperwork! I asked Chase and was told I am the guarantor (at that point I knew we got screwed)! So, here we months later I moved out because all the arguments we kept having over the Jeep incident were just getting worse! NOW WE FAST FORWARD TO TODAY! HE CAN’T DRIVE, INSURE OR EVEN LICENSE THIS JEEP! THE STATE OF IL CANCELLED HIS REGISTRATION BE HE CAN’T GET IT INSURED! This Jeep literally just sits in the driveway! We were also told that the down payment loan and Jeep payment loan were all inclusive in by weekly payment of something around $600 per month, DIDN’T HAPPEN! I would take the Jeep in a heartbeat to get it off his shoulders! I had to file bankruptcy THAT JEEP WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MINE! WHY DID YOU SELECT A JEEP THAT WAS GOING TO END UP COSTNG HIM $33,000 WHEN YOU HAD OTHERS ON THE LOT THAT WERE LESS! A United States Veteran and I put our trust into your dealership and you only cared about your bottom line MONEY! So what now, I’ll tell you what now I AM ANGRY AS A HORNET IN COLD WEATHER FOR WHAT YOU’VE CAUSED! Quite frankly I wish never heard of YOUR DEALERSHIP! NO I DON’T RECOMMEND IT, IS THAT REALLY HOW YOU TREAT A UNITED STATES...
