I've been using Hartger's as my local jeweler/AD for many years. Bobby, one of the owners, is my go to guy. He's had custom rings, bracelets, earrings, etc made for me for gifts for my girlfriend and always gets me the best quality items for great prices.
Not only is Hartger's second to none for jewelry, they are also the best AD in the NJ/NY area. Obviously, Rolex's are in extremely high demand and low availability right now. AD's will laugh at you if you ask for any sports model Rolex - literally, I know from experience. I've visited every AD within a 2 hour range of the Wyckoff area and they have all shrugged me off. Some told me they didn't even want to know my name - again I mean this literally!!! I wanted a two-tone Daytona. The second I would even utter the word Daytona, every AD would gave me the cold shoulder or rudely told me it would be impossible.
But not Hartgers. Hartger's listened to exactly what I wanted, treated me not only as a customer but made me feel like family. They can't guarantee you a time-frame because no one can, AD's simply don't know what they're getting from Rolex or when. But what they can give you, is the confidence that they WILL get you your watch. Bobby told me to just please be patient and it will happen. I'd call and drop by occasionally and Bobby & his team always greeted me with pleasure and reassurance that they still are on the look out for my watch. After losing hope over a few months, Bobby saw I was discouraged on my way out of his store one day. He called me minutes later and said "Will I promise you I will get you your watch". A month later (today), I got the call.
Multiple friends of mine with NO PURCHASE HISTORY have had the same experience with Hartgers. Other AD's try to swindle you into buying things you don't want before they'll even consider you for a watch.
If you're in the market for quality jewelry, diamonds, or watches do yourself a favor and visit Hartger's. They are a family run business that will make you feel apart of their family.
Thanks again to Bobby, Greg, Olivia, Lauren, and anyone else who I forgot to mention. You guys are the best and will always be my...
Read moreOur large family shopped here for decades but in the last few years, the selection has become increasingly matronly/dated and they're hiring young people without apparent experience, training or even social skills. We made an appointment in advance, as we always do, this time with a young woman named Lauren. She was over 20 minutes late with no explanation then generously gave us eight minutes of her time before waving us away-dismissed. Buying jewelry should be a fun experience, Lauren was the anthesis of that-bored, disinterested, no eye contact. We weren't there to look, we were there to buy a watch, hopefully a Rolex, a ring & necklace, maybe some gifts. She indicated they currently have no Rolexes in stock (ok, pandemic, not her fault!) but she refused to let me try on any of the display Rolex models, when questioned she replied, "You can't order one anyway". So why display them if you can't buy them OR try them on? Ok, so moving on! We really just wanted to buy a few things & have fun! We asked her about looking at their other watches/other selections- Cartier etc but she wasn't interested in showing us anything if it meant she would have to move a muscle. She appeared glued to her spot. Moving on again! When we asked about rings & necklaces, she gestured vaguley and suggested we wander over, "there" to a display case on the opposite end of the store, by ourselves. Fwiw, they're no longer selling David Yuman. Our family has lived in Ridgewood over 50 years & this young woman acted as if were homeless & wandered into the store just to ruin her XMas. We left incredibly disappointed & kinda shocked to be honest. We won't be back, we bought a beautiful watch, ring and necklace & even several gifts in Short Hills, where they train their staff and the selection is contemporary. They want...
Read moreI'm 100% with Mike's one star review and I have more to share as well.
I once walked in with my wife and want to get watches for both of us, we looked around and stopped at Rolex, nobody came to say hi and nobody welcomed us, we asked for sales people and tried some pieces, the sales was impatient, not professional at all. In the end we left our information and requested some watch, but they just left the small note paper on table and just leave, after a while we still see the note sits nowhere and they don't even bother to keep it. We all know at some point, for certain Rolex model it's not straightforward to get, but customers should not be treated like this, very bad experience, Rolex should know about this and take actions!
Regarding their response to Mike, I have a few words to say: Their response is arrogant, don't want to acknowledge what they did wrong and improve, have no attitude to fix the issue. Clients have rights to leave review anonymously, why should they leave comment with real identity? If they don't deal with gray market, how do they implicate Mike involving in the gray market? They seem to know the details and admit the fact by their arguments. Don't try to get sympathy by claiming yourself "small business", you are big jewelry store, making huge amount of easy profit because you are in the business for decades. Your employee/owner is wearing VERY EXPENSIVE Rolex meteorite gold pepsi! So many clients want to get the piece, instead of selling to client, you keep it yourself, and who knows what you will do to this piece when you take the next hot piece yourself?
My advice is the same: DO NOT DO...
