A Hidden Gem You’ll Be Glad You Found—Especially on Weekdays!
We randomly stopped by Country Cafe in Wyckoff on a quiet weekday (Tuesday, I think?)—and wow, we’re so glad we did. No line, no wait, just an easy, laid-back breakfast that totally exceeded expectations. We’ve heard it gets busy on weekends (for good reason!), so if you want the same amazing food without the wait, a weekday visit is the move.
The food? Picture-perfect. Seriously—every plate looked ready for Instagram. We ordered the hummus and grilled chicken toast, which was fresh and packed with flavor, and the breakfast quesadillas, which were melty, hearty, and just the right kind of indulgent. Then came the banana caramel French toast—basically dessert for breakfast in the best possible way. And don’t sleep on the Nutella empanadas… just order them. Trust me.
What really makes this place special, though, is the vibe. Gail, the owner, is always there greeting everyone with a big, warm smile. You can tell she loves what she does, and her staff clearly does too—everyone feels like family. It’s cozy but cool, welcoming but not overdone. And there’s even a parking lot in the back, so finding a spot is a breeze.
We’re already planning our next visit—and next time we’ll probably...
Read moreThe food is great. The checkin process is faulty. No one greeted us. I walked to the bar to get in line for a Sunday brunch. My name was taken and was told 15-20 minutes. Waited patiently 30 minutes with a baby just to see 2 groups arrive (2 and 7) get seated ahead of us. Even after I suggested our group could be split up into 2 tables (2 and 3) one of the tables was given away to a new walk in. After realizing their mistake, they started rushing out a table of 4 that were not done eating. Made me uncomfortable. Customers shouldn't beg to be serviced. We left hungry.
Everyone seems to be doing everything and owner being most active. So there is poor communication between staff. Given the layout of the place, they may benefit from a designated bartender making coffees, drink and juices and one person focusing on hosting...
Read moreI don’t usually post reviews of restaurants but I had to. We walked in and no one greeted us. Staff were talking behind bar, our waitress was smiling texting on her phone. Took several minutes before getting seated. Upon sitting down took our drink order but didn’t say her name and was not friendly. A few minutes later came back our food order. Other than that no interaction with staff. Did not come over at all to ask how everything was. We had to ask for everything during meal (Utensils, napkins and more water). Food was okay, nothing to rave about. I had an egg sandwich and my wife ordered French toast. Handed check after done eating and felt rushed out. Poor service and we did not feel...
