So important to have a local bookstore! It really makes a community feel complete; they always offer more than just books. I love stopping in for a card, to see the art, and to browse new books. I've ordered many specific and sometimes obscure books and they've always procured them for me. Truly above and beyond. I remember for the holidays I ordered a copy of James and the Giant Peach. Liz called me to say they had one in stock but it was scented, and asked if I still wanted it. Read moreThis bookstore has an ambience of its own. Its very quaint. Good parking off Main Street in Yardley. I got two books for my three year old granddaughter and a 500 piece puzzle for myself. I enjoyed the area artwork that is hanging up on the walls and in the window spaces that are open and free of curtains or blinds. There were a few people who picked up orders of books that were put aside. If you like to read books in the store, there were places for adults and children to sit to do just that. The place has a beautiful porch in front and on the side of the buiding to accommodate sitting outside. I will definitely visit...

But the last time we bought a book, a 2% Stocking Fee was charged -- for a book that was in the shop (?!). While the amount was trivial, adding a fee to buy a book in a bookshop(!) seems like a very questionable decision, as it annoys customers like me that may now be more reluctant to buy in the future. If the business must raise prices, just add it in to the price of the book! Again, lovely shop, a credit to Main Street, but unfortunately, I'm less likely to buy from Commonplace until this...
