After I move to south New Jersey I quickly started my search for the ultimate Philly style cheese steak sandwich which did not require me to drive 1 hr to Philadelphia. As I have gotten older, my taste preferences have evolved to demand better cuts of meat and fresh bread. even dare I say it, provolone or a more exotic American cheese. I bumped into the 9th Street on Main by searching google maps and decided to try their sandwich. This is a small very clean and simple restaurant that has about four tables that can seat 12-14. When they take your order, you get the feel of authenticity and that this place is more than a mechanism to make a living. As I sat there waiting for my sandwich to get ready, I noticed a tray of focaccia that was covered with a thin layer of marinara that kept winking at me. I purchased one to try and my mind was blown how a seemingly simple concept can pack so much flavor. The focaccia (if you can call it that) was infused with olive oil, very thin and crispy. It was one of those things that you must eat again to confirm if it was that good. The steak sandwich did not disappoint. The meat was of high quality. It was a marbled meat with no chewy gristle that you often find in other places. The bread was soft and there were plenty soft onion pieces to enhance your bite. I will be going to 9th Street...
Read moreTwo great stories about this place: We had been getting hoagies for each eagles playoff game, so we wanted to get some on Super Bowl Sunday. I walked in and they were sold out, very busy day. Anyways I tell them my story and leave. A minute later they come running out the door, “we have a few spare rolls and we’ll make your sandwiches! We don’t want to be a jinx!”
Then this last weekend I was having a party on Sunday, I called and asked about trays and to my dismay they aren’t open on Sundays until football starts. We hang up, and I get a call a few minutes later. The owner is going to make my trays for my party despite being closed.
On top of this excellent service the food is amazing. Had the porchetta for the first time today and it was great. Been working my way through the menu and haven’t had a bad sandwich yet.
Can’t say enough good things about the food and the...
Read moreGiuseppe and Maureen have created a lovely slice of South Philly in Yardley. It's a small place, a few tables, simple and inviting. Reasonably priced. The food is the star here. Sharp Provolone, delicious, snappy sweet peppers, an authentic Italian hoagie better than anywhere else in town or nearby. Their chicken chesesteak is vastly superior to what you might be expecting. Chunks of fresh chicken, their unique seasoning blend, the chewy roll all make for a big sandwich that's never disappointing. They're very nice, and they work faster than you'd expect for the exceptional quality. I've been going back a bunch of times and it's...
