This place is like the opposite of Cheers. Remember that old there song- sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows you're name and your always glad you came- well, pretty bird can partially fulfill the latter desire, but as for the former, well... If they know your name theyre way to busy to be bothered by you and maybe wish you weren't around... It's like shopping in the kitchen of your step dad. I don't mean this about the employees so much as the clientele. I've been here 4xs and Everytime it's packed with wealthy people deeply immersed in their laptops. I don't think I've ever seen just a normal conversation or coffee date taking place. If you put up partitions between the customers and installed florescent lighting, the vibe wouldn't change. Except that then maybe one of the hipsters might notice what's going on, and then, setting he's trapped in an office miggr announce he's quitting, and will thereby further disappoint his parents when he can't pay them his rent.
On the plus side the coffee is good, donuts are a 6.5... But I'd recommend going across the street for those. I'm usually a black coffee drinker, but I will say I was impressed with the latte I got (pistachio vanilla). Surprisingly good - though I asked them to make it not super sweet. If you wanna get work done and be left alone, but be shoulder to shoulder with people doing the same maybe check this out. If not, get it to go, sit outside or go for a walk...

If you’re looking for a drip coffee, latte, or something with sweetness, syrups you’re solid. Much better than the Starbucks down the street. If you want quality espresso, go to calm waters in Newtown.
Baristas at Pretty Bird are friendly and accommodating, yet undertrained and the espresso poorly extracted. Pretty bird should really invest in some training with SCA or barista hustle. If you’re gonna compete with a Starbucks down the street, you better be producing a better quality espresso.
Roasted coffee there is definitely solid. Though definitely 3rd wave.
Reason I’m giving it 4 starts instead of 3 is that I’m currently enjoying their “wild child” which is a rotating origin. Right now, from India (no other information available)
I was out of my normal 4th wave roaster, and needed a bag. After 14 days, it’s quite good with brown sugar sweeteness, white florals, great clarity, and smooth acidity. I’d definitely buy it again. Their house blend is very safe, even as a lighter medium, so if you’re looking for traditional beans, go with that.
However, there’s no information anywhere about elevation, varietal, roast level? Processing, or farm so there’s no way to be properly selective on your purchase when you’re looking for...
Read moreAs you see they felt the need to write an essay blaming me. Shame on you pretty bird. Literally the only small non chain coffee shop I’ve ever been to that puts only 2 shots in a large drink. You handed me a cup of milk. And that’s on me?! Many reviews like this
Have no idea how anyone thinks this place is decent. It is so loud next to where you order that the person helping me asked me to repeat myself three times while ordering an iced latte. When I asked for cream in it he said there was milk ‘over there’ and when I looked perplexed I had to remind him it was a latte! When I did finally get my order they basically handed me a cup of milk as if I was supposed to know that they only put two shots in a large. A large! 2 shots?! Come the hell on that is beyond stupid. So the. I had to go pay for two more shots and instead of remaking the drink to the correct proportions I got handed a drink with zero of the flavoring I had ordered. My husband had gotten a flavored cold brew that tasted burnt with no sugar. How exactly would a flavored syrup not be sweet? No wonder why Starbucks has survived a few steps away. The service and coffee are horrible. Do not waste your time. Also, even though their website says the cafe turns to a burger shop ‘at lunch time’ apparently lunch time is 3:30...
