Not impressed by anything and I’m not exactly sure how this PF gets 4.3 stars. I walked in just behind an employee who did see me because we made eye contact. She didn’t hold the door open for me and it almost closed as I got to it. I walked in, wasn’t greeted at all and I scanned my black card at the scanner. I paused waiting for some response like “you’re all set, thank you” or anything of the sort but I got NOTHING. I asked “am I all set” to which I got the half * response “yup”. Nobody even looked up at me at any moment. I’m from the Wareham MA location and travel a lot. I’ve been to PF all over Boston, Orlando FL, Rhode Island and Massachusetts as a whole. I’ve never seen such a lack of basic customer service, ever. I also wasn’t impressed by the atmosphere or machines. The atmosphere is as boring as the Dartmouth MA location but Dartmouth’s machines are maintained better. I will say that Dartmouth’s customer service is TOP NOTCH but just like South Yarmouth, their fitness center is kinda boring to be honest.... The elliptical creaked a lot and the paper towels were empty in the stretching/ab room to the back right. The chest press machine also creaked every time I made a rep which was also irritating. I usually stay for an hour and a half at any PF but left after 45 min or so because I lost motivation. I hate giving people poor ratings but I specialize in customer service and I didn’t feel like this location had an ounce of it. I didn’t even get a goodbye as I left. The two representatives behind the counter were talking about boyfriend stuff which seemed to be more important. I used to come to this location 7 or so years ago when I was taking a few classes at CCCC for JWU and it seems like its gone down hill since then. Seems kinda odd to mention this too but I found the really old grey plastic trash bins to be kinda out of date for PF. Every PF I’ve ever been to has the newer metal (black) round ones. I know that you have a higher population of older guests but that still doesn’t mean that updates shouldn’t be done with the times.
Thanks for listening....
Read moreI don’t normally write reviews but I felt I should. I’ve been coming here for about 4 years - I’m not a gym rat but I exercise for health benefits. This location just got new equipment in and got rid of a lot of machines. There is now only one hip abduction machine and a lot less treadmills. I’m excited about some machines (and that there are more smith machines) but I was disheartened to see that there are much less of the more commonly used equipment. I’m not above waiting around for a machine, but it’s gotten to the point where there is almost always someone waiting to use the machine as soon as you start your first rep. It’s uncomfortable to have someone watch you while you work out and it is also uncomfortable to have to line up next a machine in order to use it. What concerns me is that I encountered this before tourist season and during the work day. This problem will only be exacerbated by the onset of tourists and high schoolers come the summer.
It’s odd that this location also took away the equipment that is most accessible to people with limited mobility - like those with physical limitations and/or the elderly. This seems like an odd business decision based on the sheer amount of elders who reside on the Cape year round and have been patrons of this gym for many years. America’s population is also aging as a whole, so this is a sad oversight to see. I think it’s great that planet fitness has been helping younger people like me become more active for years now, however this location also needs to be mindful of their other demographics when making decisions like this. I think the biggest question is why didn’t this location ask consumers what they wanted for new equipment and for feedback before this. But then again, I’m not sure how much control they have over what machines are sent, although they should. Most of the people I chatted with recently at planet fitness were surprised at the lack of machines. And for being noted on Google as a “wheelchair accessible gym” - the elevator rarely works.
TLDR: Less machines,...
Read more❗️❗️❗️ Terrible. I would advise anyone signing up for a membership to read the fine print and make sure they understand what they’re signing up for. Their associates wouldn’t hesitate lying to you in order to get a “referral bonus” or whatever their incentive to sign up people is. I’ve been misled and literally lied to by one of their employees here in the South Yarmouth location. The regional manager is supposed to contact me in order to resolve this, but I won’t hold my breath just yet. ❗️❗️❗️
Follow-up , 2 weeks later.
I was in touch with a manager a couple of days after this. Once she realized the situation she offered me a refund and downgrade. I have yet to receive the refund.
Today when I asked for it at the front desk I got a visibly irritated staff "manager is not here, I will leave a note" followed by "you're all set, go now" and she wouldn't hear anything else. When I asked why is she so irritated "I had a stressful day".
She keeps telling me the person that misled me no longer works here(which is none of my business) , but I saw him working here on Wednesday (2 days ago) I'm not sure if that's funny or sad.
This situation is really absurd.
Edit 2 :
The situation since then has been resolved. ✅ Yesterday I spoke to the new manager of the FC - Michelle. She was very respectful, empathetic and professional, how I believe all PF staff should be. She actually listened, helped and assured me such situations won't arise going forward as she is trying her best to bring the club back in shape.
Thank...
