Anglin's Thrif-T Meats — Local services in Youngstown

Bought a 149.99 meat package from this place to try it out. I have bought meat bundles from several places before when I lived in Pennsylvania, with 0 issues.

The packaged bundle lied. Said I was supposed to receive 4 tbones, recieved 1 tbone and 3 sirloins.

EVERY single pound of hamburger I have thawed out stunk and was gray. Spoiled meat.

Country ribs? Spoiled meat.

Roasts were cut smaller than advertised, almost the size of the sirloins.

Went to this place 3 weeks ago. Not a lot of time to inspect each piece of meat individually. Beyond that the meat was already frozen when we got it, so to inspect would have meant we would have to thaw it out and then refreeze.

Was told 3 weeks is too long to wait but 150.00 is a lot of meat to go through, and the simple fact that they stated there was absolutely NOTHING they would do is an attrocity in itself in regards to customer satisfaction. On top of that they said meat bundles may not be for me.

Me and my dad have been searching for years to find a local place that sells hog head cheese—something my grandfather used to make better than anyone. We hadn’t had any luck… until this April. I happened to be sitting in a plaza when I looked up and saw this meat shop. On a whim, I decided to check it out.

I walked in and asked if they had hog head cheese, and to my surprise, the lady smiled and said not only do they have hog head cheese, but they also have souse—including extra hot! I was amazed. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and knew their stuff. This place is truly a local treasure.

I live in Akron, and work in the Youngstown area on Wednesdays and I was referred to this store by one of my clients who lives in the area so I decided to stop by to check out their meats. And boy am I glad I did. Not only did they have what I was looking for, but a hell of a lot more. The staff was extremely gracious and accommodating not to mention my purchases were beyond satisfactory. If anyone is looking for fresh hard to find meats at a reasonable price I highly recommend this establishment.
