Room To Grow — Local services in Zelienople

I will never shop here again, and I urge anyone and everyone not to, as well. I hope the following reaches as many readers as possible, as I also intend on relaying my experience to as many people as I can conceivably share it with by word of mouth. (From the experience my son and I had at Room to Grow Toys in Zelienople , Pa, , I would rate it at zero stars instead of one star, but the system wouldn’t let me, so hence the one star…) My son and I were looking at the Playmobil toys. We saw that there was an overstock area just under the counter with a sliding door. Out of curiosity, my son slid open the door to see if there was anything in there that wasn’t on the floor. (And, in our defense, there were items that WERE NOT stocked on the floor…AND this overstock compartment was not marked with any type of signage saying something to the effect of “employees only” or “ask an employee for access “…). After all, we weren’t hurting anyone by looking, weren’t causing any damage, vandalism, disruption, etc. We were putting everything that was in there back after we looked… no harm done, or so we thought…. A woman whom I assumed was an employee, approached us from behind and proceeded to berate and insult us for looking in the overstock area! By the way she was acting and hurling patronizing insults at me about my age, how “I should know better”, insinuating my stupidity, and even going as far as questioning my parenting, you would think we had gone behind the counter, opened the register and were actively stealing cash out of it! I was so shocked that we were actually getting scolded and yelled at by a middle aged woman for looking through store merchandise, I didn’t know what to say, or even how to respond. Her reaction to us simply looking for other items we may have been interested in was way over the top, unacceptable, and uncalled for. It was so ridiculous, it didn’t even seem that this was really even happening! Honestly, I was embarrassed for her by the way she was treating us, an absolute cringeworthy atrocity. If she had a problem with our looking through the merchandise, all she had to say was “Oh, I’m sorry guys, that area is off limits.”, and slide the door shut. Instead, she chose to berate and insult us, me especially, in a way that was very personal, demeaning, and downright ugly, for simply looking through overstock items with full intentions of buying some of those items… The thing she did next was what really angered me. She proceeded to forcefully grab the item we found in the overstock area, which we intended on buying, out of my son’s hand and threw it back into the storage area and slammed the sliding door shut! I was so angry, I said to her “Well we’re leaving now, and we won’t come back.” When I walked out the door, I was curious to know who she was, so I opened the door, looked in and asked her if she was the owner of the shop, but instead of apologizing about the unpleasant way she treated us, which I gave her every opportunity to do, she doubled down, and would not tell me if she was the owner. Why?, I do not know…. Up until our stop at Room To Grow toys I was having a wonderful day with my wife and son shopping in Zelienople, Pa. This incident absolutely put a damper on my day and left a bad taste in my mouth. Certainly an unfortunate incident, and a textbook way NOT to treat a customer. I wonder how a business can last for 40+ years with employees, possibly the owner of the business, with obvious unhinged anger containment issues toward the customers, no less… A lot is said about “supporting small business”, but when I try to do so and I’m treated in a disrespectful manner such as this, I’ve got no problem with giving my hard earned money to Amazon, Wal Mart, and other “big business”, and, judging from the way this woman treated us, I assume she’s fine...

I lovet this place! They sell quality toys, not junky plastic stuff, definitely great and unique toys. I always spend lots of money here because evertything is so nice. In addition, they gift wrap for free. Robin the manager, can order anything you need. I had to get bridge piers for our Brio train set. She had those in Two days! I took in a mail oder catalog with my two's request, she was able to get or had in stock everything, prices low than the catalog, with no shipping costs Free giftwrap! She gave me a free greeting card. When i was in the hospital, i phoned her and asked her to pick out christmas stocking stuffers for my two. I gave her a cash limit. She picked out just the right stocking stuffers for my two. I love this store. Do yourself, and your children a favor and go to Room To Grow, in Zelienople. I rarely...

Love love love this store! I went it for a gift for a little boy headed to kindergarten and the selection was incredible. And while I was continuing to shop, the woman working the store wrapped my gift for me. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The items I bought were unique, well built and so cute! Can’t wait for another excuse...
