I'll try my best to describe this little piece of heaven in the village of Tavan! I was in contact with the homestay prior to our visit and their communication was prompt and professional. My husband and I wanted an authentic homestay and to experience the cuisine etc of the life in the beautiful valley that is Tavan. Well, we were completely blown away by our stay! After a 6 hour trip on Greenbus we arrived in Sapa and quickly found a taxi to take us on the very rocky road to Tavan. We were welcomed by Lien(a mature 22 year old graduate who is currently helping her Aunt and Uncle to promote and grow the family business) and Phuong(Mom and Master Chef of the homestay). We were settled into our accommodation and welcomed with a drink. The family have the cutest son, Giang( a 2 year old with such a trusting, beautiful nature) and we quickly bonded and became firm friends. We helped that evening with the prep of the food and some cooking. For a mere 90 K(dong) we dined on such a delicious array of foods that blew us away. The produce used was all from the valley. Dad(Ve) poured us his homemade signature rice wine(with a similar kick to tequila) and after dinner we presented with freshly brewed green tea that is also from the valley. After dinner we were very pleasantly surprised when they upgraded us to a private bungalow with our own bathroom at no extra charge. Bed is comfortable and the bungalow cosy. Great shower! Breakfast was noodle soup or pancakes. Their daughter(Hoa) showed great interest in speaking English and I gladly assisted her with English. Their son(Truong) loves playing chess and my husband had a great games with him. They made us feel like we were part of the family. On our last morning there the children and Lian led us on a tour of the valley, took us to the museum and down to the famous stones and the river. We were welcomed back with the most amazing lunch which had been prepared in our absence. We offered to pay for lunch but they refused!Ve loves to sing karaoke as well. This was a life...

The guide Dao was a very cool lady who made sure I had everything I needed. My friend and I booked, and it ended up being a private tour for just us. The price was the same as bigger tours I've seen.
The homestay itself was very clean and welcoming. The food was delicious! Beautiful, quiet area to stay outside of the city with such a sweet family. They even let us use the showers when we returned from our trek even though we didn't stay another night. Thank you...
Read moreBeautiful Homestay in a beautiful village! Stayed for a night as part of a trekking tour. The bungalows are very clean and cozy with ethnic decor and electric blanket. The living room has a fire place and a big dining table for guests. It is run by a family, and the hosts have 3 children (bring a toy for the little boy!) Dinner was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed karaoke afterwards.
I walked around the area for close to an hour and this place definitely looked like one of the top homestays. Note: there is a lot of noise early in the morning from neighbouring construction sites, bring ear plugs for...
