Visiting Vodopaj Niagara was an awe-inspiring experience that left me mesmerized by the sheer power and captivating beauty of nature. The moment I laid eyes on Vodopaj Niagara, I was overwhelmed by its magnificence. The falls, a breathtaking curtain of rushing water, towered above me, casting a cool mist that refreshed my senses. The pristine blue-green hues of the water and the lush surrounding greenery created a scene straight out of a postcard. The accessibility and well-maintained pathways made it easy to explore and appreciate the falls from various angles. I took my time strolling along the pathways, absorbing every view and capturing countless photographs that would forever remind me of this enchanting encounter. The viewing platforms strategically placed near the falls provided an up-close encounter with the raw power of nature. Feeling the mist on my face as I gazed at the colossal water wall was an exhilarating experience. The sheer force and intensity of the water were truly awe-inspiring, reminding me of the remarkable forces that shape our planet. Vodopaj Niagara offers more than just a stunning waterfall. The surrounding parkland is a serene oasis, perfect for a leisurely picnic or a quiet escape from the bustling city. The well-manicured gardens, the scenic walking trails, and the gentle sound of nature create an ambiance that soothes the soul and allows for peaceful reflection. The facilities at Vodopaj Niagara were excellent. Clean restrooms, ample parking, and informative signage added to the overall convenience of the visit. The friendly and knowledgeable staff were always available to answer questions and share interesting facts about the falls, enhancing my appreciation for this natural wonder. In conclusion, Vodopaj Niagara is an absolute must-visit destination for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone who appreciates the raw beauty of the world around us. From the awe-inspiring power of the falls to the tranquility of the park, this place offers an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe. Just beautiful. We came here twice during our 1week vacation because it was so nice. You can park by the street (there is some free space) or if you dare to take the small road to the restaurant, there are a few more parking lots. However, the walk to the river is not far either way. The first part is the river before the Waterfall. It has very clear water and is very deep, but depending on where you go there are some even cliffs that reach into the water a little (so you don't have to jump inside). To reach the Waterfall, you have to go through the restaurant - they don't seem to mind too much as it also brings them visitors. We came here on July 14th (picture), and on July 17th. The second time the Waterfall was just dried up. I think it's still worth a visit, simply for the nice river. If you're up for a little hike along the rocks, you can reach a beautiful little lagoon, that attracts some brave souls cliff-jumpers. Both times it was not very busy, and it's a magnificent feeling to swim in the cold water surrounded by more little waterfalls! Careful tho, you have to go through a fence and the hike is a little tricky sometimes. We had to take a different route (much more difficult one) back as there were snakes around. So it's a little adventurous 😉 but worth it!

The friendly and helpful staff enhance the experience, making sure visitors have everything they need for a perfect outing. Overall, Niagara Waterfalls in Podgorica is a must-visit attraction that offers a slice of paradise. It’s an unforgettable experience that I highly recommend to both locals and tourists alike!

To YOU, responsible and sensitive traveler – PLEASE READ THIS! The waterfall is very nice and is only 15 minutes from the airport: the best way to say goodbye to Montenegro. But be prepared: there are many stray animals around, and sadly, many are in very poor condition. These poor dogs (see pics) were lame and had trouble moving and the dog clearly had a tumor in her breasts or advanced mastitis. Still, we travelers can make a difference! Let’s talk about it and spread awareness. People here are used to this, and with so many animals, they probably don’t even know what to do – municipalities aren’t doing what they should. But this should not stop us. Please, don’t turn a blind eye! Every person who finds the courage to raise the issue can help change things, step by step! If you’re planning a trip here, you could bring some help, like food or parasite treatments — but most importantly, please raise awareness and consider donating to local organizations like @stray_aid_montenegro or @friendsofdogsmontenegro. Every little act counts. Together, we can make Montenegro even more beautiful – for both people and animals – and preserve the wild and authentic soul of Montenegro 💚

Impressive during winter time. So much water! It is not easy to find, as there are no signs along the road and not even a proper parking lot. The best parking is at the Niagara Restaurant, which is built right next to the waterfall. The viewing platform and the stairs that lead down to the rocks have definitely seen better times. A lot of litter around. The waterfall is definitely worth a stop. Be careful, as the rocks are difficult to walk on, and the currents are strong. P.S. we went there again on 21 July 2025, and there was not one drop of water. The riverbed was completely dry. It was clearly visible that the waterfall itself is an artificial structure (by the owners of the restaurant maybe?) and not a natural wonder.

Bağımsızlık Meydanı, eskiden Cumhuriyet Meydanı Karadağ'ın Podgorica şehrinin merkezi meydanıdır . Meydan 5.000 metrekarelik bir alanı kaplamaktadır. Hem "Radosav Ljumović" şehir kütüphanesi hem de "Sanat" devlet galerisi meydanda yer almaktadır. Trg Republike, 2006 yılına kadar Trg Ivana Milutinovića ( Ivan Milutinović Meydanı ) olarak biliniyordu - ünlü bir Karadağlı komünist politikacı, askeri general ve ulusal kahraman. 2006 yılında, Karadağ'ın bağımsızlık yılı olan meydan büyük bir yeniden yapılanmaya uğradı. Genişletildi, asfaltlandı, büyük bir merkezi çeşme inşa edildi ve alan araçsız bir bölgeye dönüştürüldü. Meydan, sütunlar, palmiyeler ve su kanallarıyla süslendi. Tüm projenin maliyeti yaklaşık 2,5 milyon Euro'dur. Mirko Petrović-Njegoš (1820-1867) 19 Ağustos 1820'de Njeguši'de doğdu . Prens Danilo I'in ağabeyiydi , amcası ise Petar II Petrović-Njegoš'tu . 1 Mayıs 1858'de Karadağ ordusunu Osmanlılara karşı yöneterek Grahovac Muharebesi'ni kazanmasıyla ünlüdür . Bu süre zarfında Kuči kabilesine karşı bir sefer düzenledi ve burada çoğunluğu yaşlı erkekler, kadınlar ve çocuklardan oluşan 243 kişi katledildi. Böylece Çetine’de Osmanlı Devleti’ne bağlı otonom ve teokratik Karadağ Vladikalığı kurulmuş oldu. Ülkeyi aynı aileden gelen vladikalar idare etti. Vladika, üst rütbeli bir ruhban olduğu için evlenemiyor; yerine yeğeni geçiyordu. Modern Karadağ’ın çekirdeği böylece teşekkül etmiştir. 1851’de amcasının yerine tahta çıkan Danilo Herakoviç Nyegoş, vladika sıfatını bırakarak yalnızca prens olarak anıldı. Etraftaki Arnavut, Türk ve Boşnaklarla sık sık savaşarak arazisini büyüten Karadağ, fiilen Rusya’nın himayesine girdi. 1878’de Berlin Antlaşması ile 4366 km2 arazisi, 9080 km2’ye çıkarılarak istiklâlini kazandı. Karadağ Krallığı kuruldu. Ülgün iskelesini elde ederek Adriyatik’e çıkma imkânı buldu. Rusya, Avusturya ve İtalya’nın iştahlı gözlerini diktiği Karadağ, yine de İstanbul ile irtibatını koparmamaya dikkat etti. Prens, fırsat buldukça İstanbul’a gelip padişahı etekler; yüklü bahşişini alarak merasimlerde boy gösterirdi. Balkanlarda muvazeneye çok dikkat eden Sultan Hamid’in düşüşünden sonra, Karadağ, Balkan Harbi’nde Osmanlıların karşısına dikildi. Böylece sınırlarını genişleterek 15 bin km2’ye ulaştı. 1919’da Sırbistan Krallığı ile birleşerek istiklâlini kaybetti; son kralı sürgüne çıktı. Sultan Vahideddin’in de son günlerini geçirdiği San Remo’da yaşayıp öldü. Yugoslavya dağılınca, Karadağ evvela Sırbistan’la beraber kaldı. Sırbistan Rusya’nın kontrolünde olduğu için, Rusya’nın Akdeniz’e inişini kesmek adına Batı devletleri Karadağ’ın istiklalini destekledi. 2006’da % 55,5 evet reyi çıkan referandumla Karadağ müstakil oldu.

Podgorica isn't a place for tourists. They mostly visit Kotor Bay or the coast instead of the capital. At some point I can understand why but Podgorica has something very different that is worth to explore in my opinion, even if you just spend 2 hours in this city. But I can't believe that this is supposed to be the glorious city centre. This place looks horrible and you can't find anything photogenic. In my opinion it's a shame to present a place like this to the public in the capital city of a country.

Просторная площадь с фонтаном в центре города, окруженная приятными кафе и скамейками на солнечных батареях, от которых вы можете зарядить свой телефон! Здесь часто проводятся выступления активистов, концерты, ярмарки и другие интересные мероприятия. 08.10.2022 Мне посчастливилось быть здесь на десятом юбилейном Черногорском Прайде, это был первый Прайд в моей жизни, я была в восторге)! ———————- I recommend that guests of the capital of Montenegro, Podgorica, visit Independence Square. Podgorica besitzt einen ganz eigenen Charme und Charakter. Die Stadt trägt sichtbar die Spuren ihrer Vergangenheit –geprägt durch Sozialismus, Krieg und systemische Herausforderungen. Sie ist keine klassische Touristenmetropole, sondern vielmehr ein funktionaler Mittelpunkt für Verwaltung, Politik und das alltägliche Leben der Einheimischen. Der Independence Square (Trg Nezavisnosti) ist dabei ein symbolischer Ort: offen, schlicht und umgeben von Verwaltungsgebäuden, kein Ort für große Postkartenmotive, aber durchaus ein Spiegel der Realität Montenegros. In den letzten Jahren kamen immer mehr Einkaufszentren, moderne Gebäude und kulturelle Events. Dennoch fehlt es der Stadt derzeit noch an touristischer Infrastruktur und urbanem Flair, wie man es von anderen europäischen Hauptstädten kennt. Mein Fazit: Wer Montenegro bereist, sollte auf jeden Fall die wunderschönen Küstenstädte besuchen – aber wer Interesse an Geschichte, Politik und der Entwicklung postjugoslawischer Staaten hat, findet in Podgorica eine spannende Ergänzung abseits klassischer Reiserouten. Ich hoffe, dass sich in den kommenden Jahren noch einiges verändert. Potenzial ist auf jeden Fall da…

Köprü Karadağ'ın Podgorica kentindeki en eski köprüdür . Morača nehri ile birleştiği yerin yakınında, Ribnica nehrini kapsıyor . Köprü Roma egemenliği döneminde inşa edilmiş ve MS 18. yüzyılda büyük bir yeniden yapılanma Adži-paša Osmanagić tarafından finanse edildi ve o zamandan beri köprü Adži-paša köprüsü olarak da biliniyor. 18. yüzyılın son dönemlerinde Hacı Mehmed Paşa Osmanagiç kasabada bir cami, okul, büyük bir saat kulesi ve zarif altıgen bir türbe yaptırdı. Cami, kule ve türbe hâlâ ayaktadır. 1943 yılında II. Dünya Savaşı esnasında Almanya’nın Podgorica’yı işgal etmesi üzerine şehir müttefik güçlerince çok şiddetli biçimde bombalandı. Büyük Vezir Köprüsü ve dört tarihî cami yıkıldı, diğer iki cami de oldukça hasar gördü. Osmanagiç Camii 1997-1998 yıllarında restore edildi. Podgorica tarihi Podgorica’nın 5 km. kuzeyinde eskiden Roma şehri Doclea yer almaktaydı. Buranın tarihi 600 yılında Slav ve Avar işgaline kadar gider. 617’de bu eski şehir deprem sonucu yıkılmıştır. Podgorica bölgesi tarih öncesinden beri sürekli yerleşime sahne olmuştur. Stara Varoş’un 2 km. kuzeyinde, şehrin ismini aldığı aşağı Gorica dağının altındaki mezarlıkta tarihi XII. yüzyıla kadar geri giden Saint George adlı küçük bir kilise durmakta ve Podgorica’nın Osmanlı şehri olmadan önceki dönemine işaret etmektedir. Podgorica, Zeta Devletinin önemli ticaret merkezlerinden biriydi. Birçok ticaret yolunun kavşağı niteliğinde olması ve ayrıca verimli Zeta Ovasında yer alması sebebiyle ticarete elverişli bir yer idi. Bundan dolayı Podgorica halkı ticaretle uğraşıyor, sık sık yakında bulunan Kotor’a veya Dubrovnik’e gidiyor ve buralarda bulunan tacirlerle işbirliği yapıyorlardı. Dubrovnik tüccarları Sırbistan’a gitmek için de Podgorica’dan geçiyorlardı. 1466 yılında Osmanlı Devleti’nin bir parçası olmuştur. Fatih Sultan Mehmed, Podgorica’nın bulunduğu yerin önemini sezerek, komutanlarından Hasan Paşa’ya burada bir kale yapılması emrini vermiş ve kale 1477 yılında yapılmıştır. Burası hemen askerle istihkâm edilmiş, böylece Podgorica bir üs haline getirilmiştir. Diğer bütün şehirlerde olduğu gibi Podgorica’da da camiler, hanlar, hamamlar, köprüler ve benzer birçok eser yapıldı. Şehir olarak kuruluşu ve gelişimi Osmanlı idaresinde gerçekleşti. Podgorica kalesi üzerinde yapılan arkeolojik incelemeler sonucunda bu kalenin Osmanlı döneminde yapıldığı görülmektedir. 1662 yılında Evliya Çelebi, kasabanın savaşçı halkından ve Fâtih Kalesi’nden söz eder. Ona göre kale içinde 300 kadar küçük ev, Fâtih Sultan Mehmed Camii, ambarlar, cebehâneler ve toplar vardı. Burada 700 muhafız görev yapıyordu. 1189’da (1775) İşkodra Paşası Buşatlı Mehmed Paşa, Morača nehri üzerinde bir taş köprü ve Duračka Camii olarak bilinen bir cami inşa ettirdi (her ikisi de II. Dünya Savaşı’nda yıkılmıştır). XVIII. yüzyılın son dönemlerinde Hacı Mehmed Paşa Osmanagiç kasabada bir cami, okul, büyük bir saat kulesi ve zarif altıgen bir türbe yaptırdı. Cami, kule ve türbe hâlâ ayaktadır. XVIII. yüzyılda şehir Karadağ dağlarındaki soyguncu aşiretlerin saldırılarını bertaraf etmek için altı tabya ile güçlendirildi, üç kapılı surlarla korumaya alındı. 1873 tarihli Manastır Vilâyeti Salnâmesi’nde Podgorica kazasının nüfusu 4551 müslüman ve 7074 hıristiyan olarak verilir. Podgorica’nın bu dönemdeki nüfusunun % 39’u müslümandı. Kāmûsü’l-a‘lâm Osmanlı döneminin sonlarındaki Podgorica’yı çoğunlukla müslüman olan ve el sanatlarıyla ticaret alanlarında gittikçe gelişen bir merkez olarak tanımlar. 1878’de Berlin Antlaşması neticesinde Podgorica hıristiyan Karadağ Devleti’ne verildi. Pek çok müslüman Osmanlı Devleti içinde kalan İşkodra’ya göç etti. 1967’de harabe durumunda olan (İskender Çavuş Camii) 1979’da tekrar onarıldı. Günümüzde bu yapı Karadağ Müslümanlar Birliği’nin bulunduğu yer ve şehirdeki İslâm kültürünün merkezi konumundadır. Osmanagiç Camii 1997-1998 yıllarında restore edildi. Her iki bina ve büyük saat kulesi devlet tarafından tarihî eser kabul edilerek korumaya alındı.

Tarihi ise, Podgorica’daki Eski Ribnica Nehri Köprüsü (Stari most na Ribnici), şehir merkezindeki Ribnica ve Morača nehirlerinin birleştiği noktada yer alan, tarihi ve romantik bir simgedir. Tarihi Bilgiler, Roma dönemine kadar uzanan köken Köprünün temellerinin Roma dönemine dayandığı kabul edilmektedir; Podgorica o zamanlar “Birziminium” adıyla bilinen bir Roma yerleşimiydi. Bu bağlamda köprü, o dönemin ticaret yollarından birine hizmet etmiş olabilir . 18. yüzyılda yenilenme, 1618’deki yıkıcı bir deprem sonrası, köprü esaslı bir tamirden geçmiş ve bu onarım Adži-paša Osmanagić tarafından finanse edilmiştir. O günden beri “Adži-paša’nın Köprüsü” (Adži-pašin most) olarak da anılmaktadır . Diğer isimleri & yerel anlamı, Podgoriçalılar arasında “Sastavci Köprüsü” ya da daha samimi bir tabirle “Skaline” adıyla tanınır. Skaline, köprü ile Stara Varoš’taki Nemanjin Grad (Depedogen) kalesi arasında, 1950’lerde yapılan merdiven yapısına atıfta bulunur . Kültürel ve Sosyal Değer, Romantik ve toplumsal buluşma noktası Bu köprü, romantik bir buluşma yeri olarak yerel halkın favorileri arasında yer alıyor. Özellikle yaz akşamlarında gençler ve yaşlılar sıcak havada nehir kenarında buluşuyor, sohbet ediyor, doğanın tadını çıkarıyor . Fotoğraf ve gezi mekanı, Köprünün çevresi, tarihi yapılar ve nehir şırıltısıyla süslenmiş doğal ortamı sayesinde bölge hem sakin yürüyüşler hem de fotoğraf çekimleri için ideal. Zorluklar Bazı ziyaretçi yorumlarına göre, çevrede hijyen açısından zaman zaman sorunlar yaşanabiliyor; bu da alanın estetiğini bir miktar olumsuz etkileyebiliyor .

The Bridge in Podgorica is the oldest bridge in the city, located at the confluence of Moraca and Ribnica rivers. It was built during the Roman era and underwent restoration funded by the Ottomans in the 18th century. Situated at a central point in the city, you can take a peaceful walk, sit down, and unwind amidst the sounds of chirping birds. A must-visit spot in the city. One end of the bridge leads to the old neighborhood, where I recommend strolling through the streets and also checking out the clock tower.
