Exceptional Seaside Dining at Strandrestaurant WOEST - CALLANTSOOG, Netherlands During my recent trip to the Netherlands, I had the pleasure of visiting Strandrestaurant WOEST in Callantsoog. This place truly deserves all the praise, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the unique atmosphere and flavors of seaside cuisine. Location: The restaurant is situated right by the beautiful beach, offering picturesque views of the North Sea. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing meal after a long walk along the shore. Ambiance: WOEST captivates with its warm and cozy atmosphere. The interior design features a nautical theme, and the abundance of wooden elements gives the place a distinctive character. All this makes you feel right at home. Service: The waitstaff were extremely polite and professional. They took our order promptly, and the food arrived within the expected timeframe. Additionally, they were more than happy to provide recommendations for dishes and wines. Menu: Strandrestaurant WOEST offers a diverse menu with appetizers, main courses, and desserts that combine traditional Dutch flavors with modern twists. Everything is prepared with the highest quality local ingredients. In conclusion, Strandrestaurant WOEST is the ideal place for those seeking a unique culinary experience in a stunning seaside setting. We will definitely return during our next trip to the Netherlands.

Das Ambiente ist wirklich sehr schön und der Service sehr nett. Das erste Mal waren wir im letzten Dezember dort und waren von dem Essen und dem ganzen Drumherum sehr begeistert. Heute Abend mussten wir, trotzdessen dass das Restaurant nur halb ausgelastet war so lange warten, bis wir überhaupt unsere Bestellungen aufgeben konnten, dass der Herr vom Nachbartisch zur Bar gegangen ist und dort bestellt hat. Die Zubereitung des Essens ging dafür sehr zügig. Die Portionen sind von der Größe her vollkommen ausreichend, bei den Rippchen wurde aber auch schon sehr mit der Menge gekämpft 😊 Mein Carpaccio schmeckte leider nach nichts, auch die Trüffelmayonnaise war geschmacklich sehr schwach und der Feldsalat leider noch sandig. Das was dem Carpaccio an Geschmack fehlte, hatten die gewürzten Oliven zu viel. Sie waren in eine "geschmacksintensiven" Tapenade eingelegt worden, die man ohne etwas abmilderndes wie Brot oder dergleichen wirklich nicht essen konnte und wir essen für unser Leben gerne gewürzte Oliven und Tapenade, aber so etwas habe ich noch nicht serviert bekommen. Wirklich sehr schade. Da wir aber im Dezember noch so zufrieden waren, kommen wir auf jeden Fall nochmal und hoffen dass es wieder besser wird und das heutige Essen und Warten auf den Service nur ein Ausrutscher war.

Sehr schönes Strandrestaurant mit direktem Blick aufs mehr, sehr gechilltes Atmosphäre und leckerem Essen. Wir hatten Burger und Salat mit Lachs, beides war sehr gut. Auch die Desserts waren vorzüglich. Etwas schade ist, dass der Innenbereich dauerhaft mit Sonnenrollos abgedunkelt ist, sodass man, sofern man nicht direkt am Fenster saß, nur bedingt das Meer sehen konnte. Der Service war auch sehr freundlich, ein Stern Abzug allerdings für die Dame am Empfang. Ich habe es noch nie erlebt, dass ich wenn ich eine Reservierung für den Innenbereich habe, draußen nicht sitzen darf, obwohl dort Tische frei waren (für den Außenbereich kann man nicht reservieren). Erst nach längerer Diskussion haben wir dann auf der Terrasse sitzen dürfen. Es klingt verrückt, aber im Prinzip sollte man telefonisch im Innenbereich reservieren, dann bei Ankunft die Reservierung zunächst nicht erwähnen sondern versuchen im Außenbereich einen Tisch zu bekommen und nur, wenn wirklich alles besetzt ist im Außenbereich, sich daran erinnern, dass man ja doch reserviert hat. Das kann zwar eigentlich nicht im Sinne des Managements sein, aber so sind dort offensichtlich die Regeln.

Great location at the beach. We only had a small snack early afternoon - poffertjes and bittergarnituur. The service was absolutely fast. The dishes that have been served at other tables looked great. Unfortunately the Woest was fully booked during dinner hours - so be quick if you want to enjoy this place during peak holiday times.

Gisteravond gegeten bij Strand restaurant Woest. Het was een heerlijke zomerse dag en hadden gereserveerd om 20:00 maar om 19:00 konden we al terecht. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen we wouden eerst drankjes doen en dat was geen probleem. eenmaal in het restaurant kregen we een tafel aangewezen met prima uitzicht. na een 45 min gaven we door dat het eten bereid kon worden en dat gebeurde. we hadden besteld een hele zeebaars van de grill en cod met Bacon. het wachten op de gerechten duurde niet al te lang en de fles rode wijn die we hadden besteld paste goed bij de gerechten. De bediening was spontaan en vriendelijk en hadden er zin in die avond. Het eten was heerlijk de groente knapperig en de vis goed bereid. we besloten nog een toetje te nemen een short bread en een ijsje. ook deze waren heerlijk. al met al een fijne leuke ervaring, ik raad het aan om hier een keer te gaan lunchen, dineren of gewoon te borrelen

A great location to hike in the Dutch nature. The location has different views. You can hike here all season. You can hike different routes with options in distances. At the Duin Centrum you can find more information regarding the routes. And which colour you have to follow. Keep in mind to plan your route (choose a colour), because at certain places you won't have signal on your phone. Always carry a water bottle with you when going on a hike. At the Duin Centrum you can refill your bottle for free. There are also toilets available. As for parking, there are many parking spots available in the neighbourhood.

Gisteren de 10km (blauwe) route gewandeld. Route staat goed aangegeven, je komt langs diverse soorten natuur (bos, duin, strand, ven). De route is pittig, veel klimmen (door soms erg zacht zand). Goed schoeisel is aan te raden en enige conditie is geen overbodige luxe. Er is een ruim betaald parkeerterrein aanwezig. Enige nadeel is dat je vooraf moet betalen en dus continue op de tijd loopt te letten. Als je niet voldoende tijd hebt gekocht, loop je het risico te laat te komen bij tegenslag. Mijn tip aan de gemeente/staatsbosheer zou zijn om een slagboom te plaatsen waardoor je achteraf kan betalen met je ticket. Tot die tijd zou het fijn zijn om op de borden te vermelden hoeveel tijd de route gemiddeld in beslag neemt. Buitencentrum is leuk opgezet waar een hoop dingen te koop zijn. Er is ook een restaurantje aanwezig. Wat mij betreft mag er meer educatie aangeboden worden in het buitencentrum.

Super schöne Gegend! Für uns der Grund Nord Holland auch wieder zu besuchen. Im Besucherzentrum gibt es eine tolle Auswahl an Mitbringseln und Souveniren. Vom Boulespiel über Marmeladen und Sirups, Seifen, Regenschirme mit besonderem Naturprint etc. Es hat auch ein sehr nettes Restaurant. Super für ein Käffchen oder auch eine stärkende Mahlzeit. Die Wandertouren sind absolut klasse zu gehen. Für jeden was dabei. Kinder,Hunde und auch ältere Leute. Die gelbe Route ist perfekt zum Kennenlernen und für alle zu schaffen. Danach wird's schon viel ;) Auf der roten Tour kommt man auch an einem Wasserhahn mit Napf vorbei. Ideal, um Hunde-und Menschentrinkflaschen wieder aufzufüllen. Traumhafte Landschaft aus Dünen, Wald und Heide. Toller pfotenfreundlicher Sandboden. Für Hunde-und Kinderwagen auch gut zu schieben...wenn 2 oder 4-Beiner nicht so weit laufen können. Wir waren begeistert :)

Nice experience that will take you through woods of pines and to the beach side where you can do a picnic to recover energies and come back. Clear paths and good signal system but not artificial lights during the night. Be sure you are back before the sun is gone.

Mate, the best place in the netherlands! I love nature, especially hills and this is the place for it. After a hike you can drive for 20mins to bergen aan zee and have a nice lunch. Pros: beautiful nature, toilet, water filler Cons: pay parking

In het vernieuwde en uitgebreide Zee Aquarium zijn meer dan 100 verschillende vissoorten thematisch te zien: laat je meevoeren door de Amazonejungle langs de piranha’s en griezelreptielen, via de Atlantische Oceaan, tropische wateren en Middellandse Zee naar de Noordzee en ontdek de meest fantastische vissen en spannende zeedieren! Verwonder je over onze zeepaardjes, zeesterren en clownvisjes, aai een rog bij het Roggenrif en sta oog in oog met haaien, murenen en giftige koraalduivels. Duik mee, ontdek, beleef, bewonder en verwonder! Het Zee Aquarium is leuk en leerzaam voor jong en oud, bij mooi en slecht weer. zijn natuurlijk gek op (zee)honden! Daarom zijn honden bij ons gewoon toegestaan. Wel moeten ze goed opgevoed en aangelijnd zijn, zodat ze de overige bezoekers niet tot last kunnen zijn. Rolstoeltoegankelijk Het Zee Aquarium is geheel toegankelijk voor rolstoelgebruikers. Bij de kassa is een rolstoel te leen. Het is helaas niet mogelijk om deze rolstoel te reserveren. Ook zijn wij voorzien van een toilet met 2 armsteunen en ruimte in het toilet voor uw rolstoel. Met een gehandicaptenparkeerkaart kunt u in de gemeente Bergen overal gratis parkeren. Let op: dit geldt niet voor zone A. In zone A kunt u met uw gehandicaptenparkeerkaart maximaal 1,5 uur vrij parkeren met een parkeerschijf. Het Zee Aquarium in Bergen aan Zee beschikt over een eigen parkeerterrein. Bezoekers van het Zee Aquarium betalen voor parkeren op eigen terrein €2,00 per uur. Om ons parkeerterrein exclusief te houden voor onze bezoekers geldt deze korting voor maximaal drie uur. Daarnaast zijn er voldoende parkeerplaatsen in de nabije omgeving van het Zee Aquarium. In Bergen aan Zee is betaald parkeren van kracht. Meer informatie over de parkeerterreinen en de tarieven zijn te vinden op de websites van de gemeente Bergen (NH).

All in all is the price of almost 16 euro per person to high for the amount of time to spend and the size of the place. In and out in about an hour. Half of the aquariums are on viewing hight for adults. So the kids have to be carried. Not that handy. That whole place is a bit like a tunnel, except not make as a tank tunnel, pity. The pool to pet some fish is nicely done. Seems the fish even like it, as the keep coming. Seals seem to have a bit small size, specially after reading the distance they would normally travel each day. They can also see they whole tank at ones. So nothing to discover again. The rather large movie theater, with a Attenborough movie, would better be a nice tank...

Sea aquarium with a unappealing aesthetic. A bit outdated. The "cinema" really takes away the vibe of a nice aquarium. Nobody cares about seeing some outdated movie in a cheap chair while they can enjoy documentaries on demand at home. The water however was clean and the animals well kept. some animals unique and not to be found in other aquariums. (Get ready to be amazed!) Really surprised with the sight of two "big sea animals" outside as well (not going to give any details just go and see) Cute little gift shop. Nice place to go for max a hour before or after visiting the sea or restaurant. I hope they refurbish the place so it can withstand the tooth of time.

Warning: There is never availability of the discounted parking. Other tourists double park (see the photos) and the staff at the aquarium don’t care and will do nothing to help you or address the situation. They didn’t realize I also speak Dutch and never offered me a reimbursement that they had offered other native Dutch visitors. Shameful of them and completely ruined the experience at the aquarium for me. Reply: The only reasonable response here would have been to contact me and offer me a reimbursement for a portion of my parking expense (you have all my details from our booking) and offer apologies for the conduct of your staff.

Very expensive for the small aquarium with less aquariums than expected. Most of them are quite smal and the fises can't really move around. The parking for the aquarium is more expensive than the public parking beside. You will also only see a few variety of other animals such as spiders, snakes, frogs, chameleons and more. And do not miss the seals outside. One of them was really playing with the public. Also do not hesitate to pet the few rays in the open bqssin, it is worth it! Sad note: Some of the glasses were not clean making it hard to see the animals behind which was disappointing.
