Aldos Restaurante — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

I can only add to the chorus of disappointed reviews stating that this place is overrated.

My partner and I dined here under unique circumstances – we explained that we only had an hour, but we wanted try as many things on the menu as possible. Budget was not an issue as this was a work trip.

Although the appetizers were tasty, the carpaccio came under a bed of crunchy lardons or pork cracklings (Chicharrones) which were almost too hard to chew.

For the main course they brought me the entirely wrong dish. As we were in a rush I didn’t bother to change it, but it tasted like the tomato pasta that I made in college.

We also asked them to choose any two glasses of wine to go with our dishes, but the wine simply never came.

This restaurant, like the entire building, looks great, and perhaps the food is even good. However, it’s not about just eating or visiting the restaurant; it’s about whether you want to. And even just walking near it, even from a distance of 10 meters, is absolutely unbearable. Why? Because right next to the restaurant, there are five massive garbage bins where all the trash from both the hotel and the restaurant is dumped. The stench is absolutely horrendous every single day. Fuimos a cenar con reserva previa el sábado por la noche.

Nos trajeron la carta, le dijimos que estábamos esperando a las personas que venían con nosotros. Se llevaron la carta. Vinieron a los 2 minutos y trajeron la carta nuevamente. Le dijimos que aguarden, por favor. Solo hacía 5 minutos que nos habíamos sentado. Vino el sommelier, nos trajo la carta de vinos, le dijimos que esperábamos a los otros invitados para elegir y pedir. Se llevó la carta. Vino otra vez el mozo y le pedimos dos tragos. Llegaron los invitados. Le trajeron nuevamente la carta para la cena. Pidieron dos tragos mas y ordenamos. Trajeron un pan de masa madre muy rico con aceite de oliva de San Juan. Trajeron los tragos. Vino nuevamente el sommelier y ordenamos los vinos. A los dos minutos se llevaron una de las tablas de panes donde aún había dos rebanadas de pan y el cuenco con aceite. Al minuto vino otra camarera y pidió permiso, agarrando mi copa, para levantar los tragos. Le dije que por favor, si pedía permiso, aguarde a que se lo dé, ya que aun quedaba bebida en la copa. Cuando vino el mozo a levantar los vasos de tragos , le dije que se habían llevado mi copa que tenía bebida aún y que se habían llevado el pan que acompañaba el aperitivo. Cada tres minutos venía un mozo, camarera, sommelier…Les pedí por favor que nos dejen cenar tranquilos.

Desde el primer minuto que te sentás, no dejan de apurarte. La sensación es que quieren que ordenes y cenes rápido, para que te vayas rápido (lo cuál es lógico desde la perspectiva de un “negocio”). Pero si quiero cenar rápido, voy a un puesto de comida callejera o paso por un “take away”. La comida, muy rica, los platos son acordes a los precios, pero la servicio es insoportable. Muy mala...
